How Near to the Angels (1956)

Dramatizes the problems faced by a young LDS woman in choosing a husband, with emphasis on temple marriage. Depicts problems of peer pressure and the positive influence an adviser can have.
The longest film produced by the BYU Motion Picture Studio under Wetzel Whitaker (up until then). It was considered by Whitaker to be a turning point film for the studio.

Thanks for loading up this wonderful movie. Yes this is a true principle, and I am so very grateful that we can be married for time and eternity by the Priesthood power of Heavenly Father. As somebody said in another of these old movies. Otherwise it is like getting married with a built-in divorce, i. e. until death does part. Sad thought if you really love each other!

I absolutely adored this video/film!!!! Thank you so very much for any and all that were involved in making this film that are still here on this side of the veil! And thank you to the people responsible for putting it on KZbin now!!! I was not raised in the church, and was eight years old when this movie came out! I am 72 now, and got baptized when I was 45 up in Alaska! I was raised in Pennsylvania, so far away from the values of the church in many ways… so I never got to be in primary or young women’s/mutual/Miamaids/etc.!! So I really appreciate this movie! Thank you so very much again… Yes, I got to be sealed in the temple, after marrying my husband civilly in the church… He and I had to wait 15 years though before we could get sealed! Until his second wife inadvertently gave him permission to be sealed to me… Oh, he had been sealed twice before in the temple. Again, thank you so very much, one and all!

+bea Rivera The clip entitled "The Test" on FHE Video 2 is the dramatic retelling of a Native American tale of a young man who carries a poisonous snake up the mountain only to be bitten once he reaches the top.
