About the translation of the Book of Mormon with focus on the attempts to steal the gold plates and the loss of the 116 manuscript pages. In 1982 it was re-edited into a shorter format and retitled "A Marvelous Work Begins" ( • A Marvelous Work Begin... ).

Joseph Smith certainly endured his share of hardship. I admire his resilience in the face of such continuous opposition.

Cesar if you look up Urim and Thumin on Wikepedia you will find by one of the smartest Jewish scholars who ever lived that the Urim and Thimim were stones that God transmitted messages on. Joseph Smith did not like the Urim and Thumin stones because he did not like the glasses they went with. So he used a hat and stone instead. It does not matter. God used a rock to communicate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urim_and_Thummim

I have sympathy for Mrs Harris. It couldn't have been easy being married to a man who was as preoccupied as he seems to have been with metaphysical matters. It was sensible of her to want to want to know more about the book her husband was going to pay to publish. In this film she is portrayed as snobbish. She upbraids her husband in front of others. Do we have any evidence of what she was really like as a person?

There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there's perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books.

The Book of Mormon is true. I asked God if he was there to let me know if it was true or false and I felt the most overwhelming peaceful feelings I had never felt before. It was clarity and love all at the same time. People may mock but it’s true I would be a liar if I said it wasn’t. I know it and I know God knows I know it.

In 1826, just 4 years before Joseph Smith published the book of Mormon, he was charged in Bainbridge NY with defrauding local farmers by claiming to be able to find hidden gold buried in the ground by the means of looking at peep stones in his hat while his face was buried in it. The exact means by which he claimed to have translated the plates. He met Emma, the first of his thirty some wives while defrauding local farmers in Tioga County. His father often accompanied him in the treasure fraud. In fact his father attended a weird Congregational church back in Vermont before moving to Palmyra, that used divining rods to search for things including treasure, and according to one who interviewed people back in Vermont some years after Mormonism began, described the Elder Smith as "one of the leading rod men" of the church. The elder Smith is the one who led Joseph into the sin of occult divining rods and peep stones to search for imaginary treasure of buried gold, even defrauding local farmers in his own town, like Martin Harris. Martin Harris' wife was known to some in Palmyra at the time as the one who took and possibly destroyed the first manuscript to prevent the fraud from being perpetrated on her gullible husband. In the end there was no restraining his foolish error and they did indeed lose much of their farm. Joseph Smith gave Martin Harris the right to sell the Books of Mormon to recoup his mortgage to his farm. But nobody wanted the book and Martin lost 151 acres of his farm.

There is zero record of Joseph Smith, ever claiming to use PEEP stones to translate the book of Mormon. He never claimed it. Oliver Cowdrey never claimed it either. And then none of the revelations in the doctrine and covenants does the Lord ever mention a peep, stone, or seer stone, to be used to translate the book of Mormon. Furthermore, the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon testified not only of the golden plates, but of the year them and Thummim and the other artifacts. Read their testimony, there is no mention of a seer stone or “peep” stone.

Sorry you’re an unbeliever of Jesus Christ, the record, the Book of Mormon is the words and teachings of Jesus Christ and He and the Father appeared to Joseph Smith, the Angel Moroni was also an ancient prophet and appeared to Joseph Smith, being commanded by Jesus Christ to instruct Joseph.

Joseph Smith wrote the whole of the Book of Mormon, just as it has been shown that he wrote The Book of Abraham etc as part of the Pearl of Great Price. The original papyrus was discovered in the late 60’s in the New York Metropolitan Museum and the church does not dispute it. It has been very reliably shown to be nothing of the kind that Smith claimed it to be, rather a common pagan Egyptian funerary document of known wording dating from over a thousand years after the time of Abraham. Some in the highest levels of the church are trying to claim that it was not directly translated in the literal sense, even though Smith himself plainly stated so -even in the introduction to the book itself. In like fashion, he wrote the Book of Mormon. As Jesus said, When the blind follow the blind, they will both fall over a cliff.

Well, you don't have to agree that the Book of Mormon is true, but the rest of the story is true. It did happen this way. People were after the manuscripts and they were lost. So, the movie can't be pure fiction. So, if you are wrong about that, then you can also be wrong about the rest. Something to think about.

Truth is truth my friend! Almost right from get go Joseph Smith was attacked left right and center right up to the day they murdered him. Why was he opposed so much from get go? Satan's ultimate plan is to destroy the souls of men by removing God and His doctrines out the way so that people remain in a lost and fallen state. This is why Satan and his followers went out of their way to try and frustrate God's work so the true knowledge of Salvation wouldn't get to mankind. But as you can see today their murderous plans did not work. God's plan prevailed and today so many people have the true knowledge of God's plan of salvation. Even today Satan's followers go about doing his work to try and pull down God's work. It never worked back then even by killing Joseph it didn't work. God's work will continue to power through even with all these obstacles. We live in the last decade of when the second coming of Jesus Christ comes. Now is the time for you to choose this day whom you will serve. You now have the option to seek diligently with all your heart might and strength and come to the knowledge of it's truthfulness and be found on Christ's side or continue thinking that you have been scammed. The ball is in your court. You make the decision. I invite you to seek after the truth by asking God directly with true intentions & pure heart and he will let you know. But you must be true in order to receive an answer. I testify to you that this is God's work. Be wise. Seek diligently.

I believe in Jesus Christ and in his Father and I asked God to show me truth and I trust in my loving Father to show me His way not anything else but God the Father of my Savior Jesus Christ. All you have to do is ask having faith in Christ and he will manifest the truth unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost and by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of ALL things.
