I like that 1978 on EDM music you play, do you think it's too much of a stretch to use it like a mastering compressor for EDM style of music? Everybody says you have to have VCA style compressor for fast paced music, but FET is not slow at all, if you want to glue things up, you have to have some "hold on time" with compressor ... :))

You could use it as a mastering comp but I think its more suitable for use across the stereo bus or sub groups. Its a decent hardware compressor buy I would recommend you make sure you really like it within the available no hassle return period. I think that's two weeks for most stores.

@@MOOTANT1 Yes, thanks, I hear what it's doing, and you don't go "full blast treshold move" in mastering, maybe max. -4 db, so if this can't handle that small amount of compression without "destroying" the mix with saturation (when no saturation is applied) than what's the point of making such a unit. :)) I will try it.

So I know video is old but what kind of cable do you use to set up side chain if using both channels? Say if I wasn’t using a patchbay, would I send a signal out of my interface? I also have a drawmer 74 eq and a 76, would I just connect the drawmer eq into the 78 compressor? Sorry so many questions

So I'm pretty new to hardware and was wondering if hardware compression would reduce latency? I wanted to side chain compress some synths while playing live drums but it always seems to have a dramatic latency and throws off my drummers timing. Any tips?

I agree...it sounds much better. Maybe you can guide me with this; a VCA Compressor, like a SSL (or the new warm bus-comp), if sidechained, will achieve the same pumping effect as the Drawmer 1978, which is a FET type?
