that is only the LCD fans. The others do not require the use of RGB cables and only connect to the motherboard fan headers but I still am not a fan of these fans and I prefer Corsair's approach since you can even link together AIO pumps and custom water cooling gear to the same system AND the actual cable itself provides DATA AND POWER (for data I mean not just controlling BASIC RGB because those fans don't really do advanced RGB stuff such as control the RGB of each fan individually of one another but Corsair's system can do that AND can do a cool effect where the RGB lights up the fan blades in such a fashion where it looks like the blades are not even spinning at all by timing the LED's to match the fan speeds). The data part of Corsair system can even adjust fan speeds and Corsair even have fans with built in temp sensors that connect to that system too which can be monitored through software which is also another bonus of their "cordless" system and the controller is tiny and magnetic too so you don't need to use a double sided tape that is usually pre applied to the controllers but Corsair still includes it for those people rocking a non steel PC case which is not magnetic and the hub can control 14 devices total across 2 channels and 7 devices per channel (or more for just RGB if you buy extension cables but I don't know the upper limit but I think multi extension cables and multi port extension hubs may be limited to one extension hub/cable per channel). Sure the LCD fans from Lian Li look cool but I would rather have fans that can tell me the air temp going through them and have some mini USB display on the side

making it all the way through production of the video and still having issues with the little screens is rough. Having to dig around for obscure engineering firmware is probably not a good user experience. I have a set of the LCD ones but have not used them in a build yet.

Cheap LEDs also ruin your mic signal. Those crappy LEDs they make rgb lighting with also tend to emit lots of radio static which is picked up by many microphones. It's especially bad with mics that are also wired to the same system as those LEDs, like if you're gaming online on your pc. And it's triple bad if your mic is direct to usb, which is a poorly shielded connection.
@DoctorMandible3 күн бұрын
I'd love to see HC or someone else include this in their reviews. I game online but I also record music on my pc. I have to do all my own research on which components emit radio and/or electrical interference. But it is a simple thing to test if you already have the component in hand. It's not just me, but all home studio musicians struggle with this. But the musician channels lack the expertise to consider testing a wide range pc components.

@@HardwareCanucksSo it's a quality control issue rather than a design flaw.
@luismovil53413 күн бұрын
The problem with Lian Li SL LCD fans is that if you connect them to a 1A fan header, that's good for only one fan. The moment you have more than one, you have to connect them to header that provide more amps, like water pump headers. Or just simply connect them using the SATA adapter, because the fan connector is essentially useless, it is used only for power and does not even register fan speeds with the motherboard. Then there's the controller dongle, which comes with a particular flimsy internal cable. However, once set up correctly, I'm not having the issues you are having. I think the probable cause of any problem with them is connecting several of them together and using only one fan header - the current is just going to fluctuate too much and cause instability issues. The Lian Li TL LCD fans fix this - by having fans use one very proprietary cable that only works with a wired controller that only comes with three ports usable for TL LCD fans. At least you won't have to worry about getting NZXT hubs, but they have really framed Lian Li into the proprietary garbage realm in my mind. I would recommend for people to limit Lian Li LCD fans to at most two rows of them and to keep in mind they aren't motherboard fans and should avoid using motherboard fan headers. We need USB-C LCD wireless fans and less proprietary controllers.

I just built a PC with the TL LCD fans. Out of 5 fans, 3 started making noises and needed to be replaced. The software was also so buggy they kept losing their settings or would stop working properly. After replacing most of the fans, and after a new mob update came out and we upgraded, we finally got to some stability. I'm building another one and will skip the LCD fans. They're cool but there are too many issues.

How do you wirelessly daisy chain a fan to the rear exhaust? Or is that single rear fan redundant now?
@kamikaze000073 күн бұрын
I think the best structure for "wireless" fans would be daisy-chained fans that are wireless except for power delivery, and then a hub that can actually communicate with those wireless fans as well as handle the processing of the data which also functions as a standard control hub. I see no point in having to sacrifice an external USB port for a dongle, when you can hide a control hub inside the case, plugged into the header. It doesn't make sense that you also need to buy your own internal hub which is extra expense.

Despite each controller having 4 headers for the daisy cabling. Would not use again.

Why can't these companies just make a standard way to make cases and fans at the same time? No proprietary BS, just like the PCIE power ports and USB ports are the standards for PC Motheroard/GPU manufacturers to follow. Having cases to just follow the same contact points already in the frame will eliminate these routing problems once and for all. Stop competing for the frustrating proprietary, compete to be the best PC Case & fans Ecosystem overall.

Take this product as an innovative product. It's mnot perfect, but give Lian Li some credit for trying something new. Their marketing is a bit meh, but that's because wireless power doesn't exist (unless it's like a wireless conductive energy, there are ways). But really, it's an enclosure connected wired to a wall outlet, so who cares about wireless anyway. It's overcomplicating things. If you're in the market to spend this kind of money, good cable management would make this product obselete.
