3Dprint a stand for the gpu and a small pillar like stand for the motherboard, and you are good to go with a matx or itx board. Or just use a normal tower cooler and lean on that, should work just fine with the card being 150mm in width😂

Temps are 10C over Ada, power draw is up big over Ada, core count is up over Ada, performance gains...not substantial. And now we know why Nvidia didn't release a 4090 TI with the full Ada board 2 years ago...they wanted to sell it 2+ years later.

4090ti would still be ~10% slower and half the peak AI performance. But yes you are correct. I was wondering why that 4 slot 4090ti never came out. It was so cool. Guess they thought it wasn't worth selling even for the $2500 it would have sold for.
@gosuprime
@gosuprime 5 күн бұрын
@@iamrubinot42 I'm pretty sure Jensen knew since 5000 series would be on TSMC 4nm (same process), having the full Ada board would make the eventual 5090 look even more "meh" relatively. Maybe if 5000 series was on 2nm they would have done the 4090 TI. I assume they have to decide well in advance which node, for mass production.

one thing not shown in the video is how FE has 90C+ memory temps while this card is 70C. It's also quieter. I think for many that justifies the 20% increase in price. Still need to see how the Ventus for 10% increase in price compares. I got my 4090 $50 below MSRP so I'm not keen on paying more than MSRP but since I don't do SFF the FE card is not that attractive.

Latest hardware, cards / cpus / etc are almost always the most efficient. Dont look at what it consumes at 120fps 4k ultra. look at a given non peak metric of say 60fps 1440p or 4k vs other cards. Id wager 5090 is THE most efficient. e.g. 4080 more efficient than all the GPUs that came before it. 3080 same with what came before. A CPU can run an old game practically on idle, yet in 2005 cpu would have to draw a ton in comparison. Should i run my 4080 at 4k 120hz and consume 500+watts? no way. 60hz doesnt worry me so much, i play at that and save all that extra power draw and heat.

Reason why I went with 4080 (OC) and not the 4090. At that time, to me, the 4090 didn't seem stable to me with Watts power and overall temperature. Now we pumped up the power even more and it feels "borderline" on the edge of TOO hot for 5090. Sadly it's the norm and inherent to switchmode PSUs/regulators. They _all_ whine to some extent. Just a matter of if you can hear it or not (out of the frequency range humans can hear) or if the manufacturer has taken extra steps against it, like covering the inductors (commonly referred to as "coils" by people with no clue) in epoxy to stop them from vibrating and creating those noises. @cameron2319
@cameron2319 5 күн бұрын
It’s not a concern to reach max capacity, it’s a concern to go past it though. You can see on this thermal testing that it is nowhere near the max thermal resistance for these connectors (105c) so there would be no fire risk unless the user is very neglectful and has poor cooling + poor connection with the cable.

@@cameron2319This test says nothing. 4090 test would show the same. We still have a 10% safety margin on 600W rating with a 600 watt power use. Do a test later in time, have a few specks of dust in there - What do you think happens with the resistance? It inevitably goes up. These will melt.

Yeah I gotta say, while I'm not all that impressed with the 5090 overall (wouldn't buy one even if I were though), one thing Nvidia did very well with the FE cards is to figure out how to make a ridiculous level of power draw coolable without continuing the trend of ever increasing sizes. It's because the whole reason they made it is to only need one power cable but they pushed power so fast that they basically ran into the power limits of one cable in a single generation lmfao. Much better compatability and no melting with still a much better 336 watts per cable if they just mandate the same higher wire thickness as they did with the 16 pin

I am privileged to have the RTX 4090 version of this card. I under clocked it to use 150 W by lowering the power target and so doing I was able to reach a level where the card is generally in Audible. I also had to purchase a fiber optic display port cable for around $60 in order to isolate the graphics card from my sound system. This was not necessary with a standard computer speaker system, but was necessary when I upgraded to studio monitors. I am painfully aware that 150 W is below the performance sweet spot for efficiency of the RTX 4090 but for me overall performance has been superb and silence is king. I would consider scooping up this card to replace the one I have, but I don’t think I am willing to get up in the morning and refresh my page for it. I would have been happy with an RTX 4070 with 16 GB of memory and enough cooling to reach similar audio levels. I think the biggest thing that should give gamers pause about this graphics card is that it is faster than we need. I play single player titles at 1440 ultra wide resolution with a 165 Hz monitor and most of my games are capped at 60 frames per second anyway. I tried Ray tracing in Nvidia demo games, but I do not play any games that negatively support Ray tracing apart from those. I almost forgot to mention: I got my graphics card for $1750 or a $150 premium over MSRP. I made my purchase in April 20 23 and I could have chosen another online retailer which promised a $50 discount if I were willing to wait until June to have it shipped. At the time, I thought this was a risk as well as being deprived of the brand new computer. I had just built in all its glory for much longer. I was correct. By June, you could get cards like this for that price anyway. as for the pricing of the card showcase in this video, my guess is MSI will charge a $200 premium over MSRP. That would be fairly in line with the premium they charged for the 4090 version. I do not want to be the one holding the bag if the AI bubble were to pop, so I will not be buying any more graphics cards unless I have a buyer lined up for my 4090.
