I worked the streets as a LEO for a few years and did many years with State DOC (retiring 8yrs ago) now that I am not restrained by a badge I see things a tad differently. When the system, when society fails to protect those weakest among us it is left to rough men standing outside the rule of law to do what is necessary to preserve the peace, protect the innocent, and return civility. Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice.

I'm not a proponent of vigilante justice, but let's be honest... She most likely would have been killed by that dude had Hardy done anything different. Powerful song. I feel the same way- vigilantism can go seriously bad, when the wrong person is mistakenly targeted, so it's not good. But, in the case of this video, the bad guy deserved what he got- he could have taken her away, but then some other girl would probably be a victim. With the guy killed, he can NEVER hurt anyone ever again. As you point out, our "Justice" system isn't good about protecting victims!

Yes he was . here in Arizona this past Tuesday a man showed up at his soon to be ex wife place she had a restraining order did everything legally and still he went to her home and put a bullet in her head. Now she dead how good did the piece of paper or the judge do protecting her????

I have been a victim of DM myself many years ago. It was a hell that I cannot describe in words in a way to make you completely understand. I was one of the lucky ones to get out, but the scars will stay with me forever. They will forever remind me of the strength that I possess deep within me. My abuser ended up being shot in the chest twice by a police office years later, after I was already re-married and moved on. Abusers never stop...something in their minds isn't wired correctly. Sadly death is the only way MOST abuser stop abusing. Great reaction!

It's a true story Hardy had a friend who did 20 years for what he did. She waited till he got out and she still had that truck and they got hitched after they dated for 2 years and have 4 girls :) He is a Roadie for Hardy

Three of those killed in Allen Tx were children. He shot an entire family, mom, dad and two little boys. Only one son survived. Two sisters, 2nd & 4th grades and their mom were shot. Both little girls died. So honestly I don't care how bad the shooter was. He deserved it. I'm from just outside of Dallas, Tx

If I could go back I wouldn't change a thing...no I didn't like and no I didn't deserve it (no one does) but it's because all of that I went through I became the strong woman I am today. There are two ways to talk about the ending of what was done, the song version and then the video version. In the song version, he could be charged with Breaking and Entering, but the killing could likely be labeled as self-defense because the abuser went for his gun. In the video version, the abuser runs away when the door gets kicked in, and then dragged back towards his gun in the living room. In the video, Hardys' character would be charged with Breaking and Entering and Premeditated Murder with special instance because it was an execution style murder.

I had a loaded 9mm, safety off, put to my head while a dude said he was in charge and was gonna do whatever he wanted to me....I had no help and no hope. Thank the lord for men like this who, without even knowing the woman, won't tolerate abuse. Just sayin.... I'm a DV survivor, but mentally, I'll never be the same. 😮😢 Bless you both!!

To add to the other comments... he was not a bad man, he was not an evil man... perhaps he grew up in a house of abuse.... as he knew what had happened to her without asking... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?"

I myself got abused by my 1st husband it was horrible but I survived with PTSD. And after years of being married to my 2nd husband (even knowing of my abusive background) didn't like that I spoke my mind to which I warned him of when I met him. It took years, our 2 kids were teenagers when my 2nd husband thought he would try it. Unfortunate for him, he had me pushed up against our kitchen wall & both our son & daughter grabbed his arms from both sides. My 2nd husband looked at our son & said let me go. Our son said not until you let my mama go. He let me go because both of our kids (son & daughter) tagged teamed him. Then his dad got in his face (our son) & said never touch me again. I of course got ALL Mama bear but our son said to his Dad, don't ever touch my mom like that again because I will always protect her over you. My husband has never touched me in anger since. My son is now 19 & is taller then his dad, my daughter is 18, both graduated from HS with honors & still to this day protect & love me & unfortunately hate their dad. But that is his own fault.
