Before anyone gives me attitude, this wasn't intended to be the next upload. My editing software kept crashing and this was an easy edit, so it was done first. I didn't want to risk the export crashing while I edit other videos.

I feel you on the reused bars. When I first found the UK scene it was weird to me because growing up hip hop it was always “corny” to reuse bars. After adjusting to the grime sound and culture I LOVE hearing those throwback bars now. Like you said, you hear the familiar spun in a new way and you get extra hype rapping along to it in a new way. From a reaction standpoint, it makes it fun watching you guys catch on and get hype too.
@KRXOVRmedia3 жыл бұрын
Exaaaaactly!!!!! It was a little jarring at first for me as well. But as soon as I got used to it...boyyyyy! LOL. I am right there with you on this one.

Regard what he said about old bars - grime was literally a rave scene. Hearing your favourite MCs set the place off with some iconic bars is part of the hype. I know shadiq (sp?) Knows this but just adding context for viewers.

7:50 “dem boy don’t know about Tenitas with the batteries held in with sellotape”. Tenita is a scale used to weigh food. He was talking about dealing rather than bullets. But pretty spot on with the other explanations 👍🏼
@leonwilliams32213 жыл бұрын
The “Tanitas” bar about the cello tape is in reference the weighing scales. OG dealers like my uncles age be using them till literally you need cello tape to hold them together. Tanita is a brand that makes the scales.

I know you’re a drill guy but would love to see more grime on the channel
@KRXOVRmedia3 жыл бұрын
It's really just a matter of circumstance that most of the channel is Drill tbh. It's not on purpose like Walkz. I go with the flow of the scene. I haven't been seeing the Grime MC's I'm familiar with releasing like that, so it's harder for me to keep up with the Grime scene. If enough people request something, I'll notice it. But I also have to prioritize at some point because I can't do everything.
@xXItZzLeWXx3 жыл бұрын
@@KRXOVRmedia I understand mate. Honestly, there hasn’t been too much new and exciting grime to cover. I suppose I’d be interested to see you cover old grime content which is ‘new to you’, but I understand that it’s unrealistic for you to spend time making those videos when there is so much new drill content on your to-do list already.

@ProductOfAnEmpire3 жыл бұрын
Yo Shadiq, you already know what I'm gonna say... modern UK Drill has evolved into GRIME, I used to bump Durk and Keef and King Louie on a daily... this is no longer that genre. Skeppy literally copied and pasted his old 'Grime' lyrics onto this riddim with ease, every single lyric he's used before on GRIME sets... I think he did this purposely to show that what we today call 'UK Drill' instrumentals are more or less GRIME riddims, 140 bpm and everything, i.e. "M1llionz - B1llionz is Ruff Sqwad ft Wiley - Together'. It depends on how the MC approaches the track. Remember I always say GRIME is beyond the beat... it's the culture. As many of your viewers are fairly young they haven't really experienced the various soundscapes of GRIME... they can't educate you. GRIME to them is Skepta - Shutdown... if it doesn't sound like that or similiar it isn't GRIME to their ears. They've never heard Grime classics like 'Bashy - Death Is Just A Page Away'... they wouldn't even recognise it as a GRIME song if they heard it today because it's not 'Hype'. This is why GRIME MCs like Scorcher and Keeya Keys spin 'Drill' beats with maximum ease, because GRIME MCs rhyme on all kinds of riddims... that is what makes them GRIME, just listen to an Oblig set. Peace.
