Hari Kebangsaan 2022 -- Kuala Lumpur's Streets are Filled on Malaysia's Merdeka Day!

210 | As a follow-up to my video about the Merdeka Day preparations I went down towards Dataran Merdeka today (31 August 2022) to see what a Malaysian National Day is all about. I was not prepared for the crowds in the center of town. It was something I had never seen before. I never did get near Dataran Merdeka or many other places close to it either. But what an experience! As I mentioned in one of the comments I think this will probably be my most memorable moment in Malaysia.
And for anyone keeping track, Malaysian Media Superstar Grace HR Leng did make it back to her house without incident.

i discovered your channel to find out how was the crowd this morning. My children and I stayed at the hotel in Jalan Sultan Ismail with the plan to take LRT until Masjid Jamek. However after walking a whole day a day before that, we decided to snuggle ourselves in bed and watched over the television. We made a wise decision.

@@whoshere767 No question about that. I felt the excitement of the crowd while I was there. It will probably be one of my most memorable moments in Malaysia. The press said there were 100,000 people there. This is wrong. Maybe there were that many at Dataran Merdeka but downtown there had to be AT LEAST a million people. When the LRT usage is examined for yesterday I think I will be proved right even though that represents only one way people arrived at the event. It was amazing!

I live in KL and Selangor malaysia all my life for decades , 1st time i see it is jam packed like that , brought the big city to a standstill ... Bring joy and patriotic at the same time just to see the super huge crowd

Malaysian are supportive and generous .... any event they will come to show their support ... then get to know each other as family .... We learn that from history when our provious generation donate their money and jewellary to our first minister .... to fly to london to have proper talk for independence from the great britain

Hey Jim. This video went live at 1430 on Wednesday. I checked the stats about an hour later and it had only 50 views. I went shopping, came back and the views were over 6500 and it's been climbing ever since. I will be insufferable at Christmas.

I was there this morning. And... I've been to Merdeka celebration few years ago. For me, this is the largest in history. For the first time, there is no signal on my phone IN KL because too many people around that area.

That's what I heard also when I got there at 6:30. When I got to Masjid Jamek it was obvious that I wasn't going to get all the way to Dataran Merdeka. It was a sea of people. It was great to be there.

We all expect to be crowded but on 31st August on early morning it was way more crowded than every morning rush hour time. Masjid jamek and Bandaraya lrt station have to be closed because of no more room left to disembark. I guess that what we get for not celebrate normal Merdeka day for 2 years. Show that even with all the hassle this country gone through for the past 2 years the National spirit still strong in us. Luckly I got off at Sultan Ismail lrt station, its crowd is still building up. Its where the parade finished and seperate the marching went to the right and the vehicle went left. Get to see the parade until the end. Still enjoying it. 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾

I saw people trapped on the steps coming down from the Bandaraya station. There was nowhere to go. I walked into town from the Jln Pudu area up near Jln Alor.

What I saw this year was much more than that! Many foreigners come to Malaysia because they've heard about the food, transport, or other tourist stuff. But coming just for this annual Independence celebration is something they will never forget. I hope to be in KL for Hari Kegangsaan 2023.

I heard the crowds during this yearly ceremony can go north of 300k people, and this was in early 2000s. Honestly, watching the parade on TV versus watching it live has its own pros and cons.

The horse carriage with guards on horses was meant to carry the King (Agong) to the podium for the parade. The burger Malaysia are fried donuts filled with a spicy sambal and a slice of cucumber. Have a good time regardless !

Perbedaan menyambut kemerdekaan di Malaysia dan di Indonesia . Malaysia : saat malam menjelang hari kemerdekaan semua berkumpul di pusat kota KL atau di lapangan merdeka Paginya mereka juga berkumpul di pusat kota untuk menyaksikan pareda atau penaikan bendera Malaysia Oia Malaysia itu merayakan kemerdekaan itu 2 kali Indonesia : 1 Agustus seluruh warga Indonesia sudah pasang bendera di setiap kampung2 , malam kemerdekan mengadakan yg di kenal "sedekah bumi" tanda syukur kita kepada sang pencipta atas kemerdekan ini dan tanda terima kasih kepada pahlawan , paginya menaikan bendera di istana , memang tak semeriah di pusat kota di KL , karna setiap kampung di Jakarta khususnya sudah mengadakan acara sendiri ,

Di Malaysia hari kemerdekaan juga di sambut di peringkat negeri, daerah dan kampung. Biasanya setiap daerah akan mengadakan sambutan ambang merdeka (menghitung detik 12 malam) dengan berbagai acara dan diakhiri dengan pertunjukan bunga api
