Sleeping in crematoriums, harsh meditations, 24 hour japa chanting and more in this video where I trace the life story of Hari bhai Mota. We also find out about his various Gurus and Yogis who showered their grace on him.
Much to learn for sadhakas! I did not expect such Aghora type sadhana from Hari Mota, because his ashram promotes Mauna/Silence.

Freaks me out! The sadhanas of those old yogis - not just some basic yoga routine, but like hacking into what humans can really do. Dedication on a whole other level. Thank you for introducing us to these wonderful yogi from past🙏🙏🙏🙏

We don't find vivid descriptions of sadhana in usual books. This one is more articulate that way I feel. Maybe Mota's other books might be even more detailed 🤷

The really strange sadhanas are not written down. It is transmitted from guru to shishya. ❤

I considered that... but even so it is a crazy tough sadhana. Which actually might be normal for these type of yogis. But I haven't explicitly read such an account. Except in some jain tirthankar stories.

Yea, like here also, we don't know what exactly Balyogi initiated Hari Mota into. Naturally, a lot is left unsaid.

Namaskaram Akka !! Can you please provide the below information in the description : 17:49 : Saikheda doc link 14:18 : Moistured atmos needed for certain Sadhana - Title of that Buddhist podcast video PDF link to this story book from which you are reading. 26:26 Ram Navami is celebrated in Shirdi Sai Baba Temple as Sai Baba's birthday because it falls during the Chaitra Navratri in March-April, which is believed to be the time when Shird Sai Baba took Mahasamadhi. 19:01 : Events of spiritual significance have always been graced by the prescence of snakes (esp. a King Cobra). The serpent king he can neither walk nor sing but made his way to be Shiva's crown the ignorant say he is devil's will This 'me' made it to knowing only by his venomous sting. - Sg "Cobra’s venom acts on the cardiovascular system. The blood thickens and makes cardiac and respiratory action difficult and ultimately it stops. Poison was all through his body and death a few minutes away. There was nothing else he could do and breath watching just happened. It was more of an accident than a conscious awareness. It was more Grace than a sadhana. From that breath-watching, which happened for just a few minutes, a new spiritual process began which changed that person’s future in so many ways." - (Sadhguru recounts one of his previous lifetimes as Bilva when posionous snakes were released upon him.) For more such stories one can google, "Snakes in Sadhguru's Life", also there's an interesting video on "Why Sadhguru Drank Venom ?". "There have been yogis who used the venom in different ways. Those who do not know how to handle a snake, those who do not know how to handle a serpent or a cobra, they wentfor the scorpion venom. And they take scorpion stings. And one thing it does is, it puts one part of you to a kind of a slumber and it puts another part of you to a tingling aliveness. So, I’m at a certain advantage. I can simply sit like this till tomorrow morning. Because one part of me is like in a slumber another part of me is in a certain level of brightness." - (Sadhguru on scorpion stings used by Yogis to heighten their awareness.)

Hi, yes thanks for the reminder.. I did think I forgot to put something in the description. Here is the documentary link : kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGbZlaVqgpmemqssi=pJFkYu7ji40hettq Book: hariommota.org/chitrakatha-english/ And thanks for the other references. There are many other significant aspects in the books like you mention the bite of a cobra becoming spiritual instrument... I skipped those for sake of some brevity. Even so the video is more than 30 mins :) like for example, Balyogiji asks Mota to sit on tree branches during some sadhana. Once Sadhguru had mentioned why this sort of a motion (swaying gently) is important for yogis. I don't recall which sathsang tho.

Yes, I also started thinking about the many pain inflicting rituals like piercings and lashing that happens in India also. It's quite far away from the modern yoga studio ambiance 🤷

@@InSpirituality not sure if all this is required for realization. With a real guru I don’t think many who are self realized did this?

I think it is ultimately about inner longing over external actions.. but maybe in some life we have to do. If someone doesn't need to do in this life and gets enlightened - in previous life they may have done. That's the case with Sadhguru also... He has done very rigorous sadhana in the life when he first got enlightened. Anyway, as sadhakas we should take our learnings and move on. maybe it will make us one notch more intense in our own sadhana and that's great.

Also important to note that all sorts of self inflicted pain is not necessarily spiritual even. Could be psychological / social related. But can't deny the extremities genuine yogis go through ... Can be seen in many cases. Even take Ramana maharshis initial days at arunachala.. they say an ant hill grew on him!! What a insane state that would be.
