I agree. There are several Black female led TV shows that are reminiscent of Insecure. Starz has Run the World, BET+ has Bigger and Twenties, both of which are really good shows. With Insecure in its final season, I hope there will be more TV/flim projects with Black women at the helm to pick up where Insecure leaves off. I, too, will give Harlem a chance. Now you knew folks were going to compare this to Run the World because the vibes are similar and the city is the SAME…I have room to watch both and this looks better than Run the World to me (which I liked overall, but something didn’t flow for me as well). The general public typically has no idea which show concept was created/pushed first 🤷🏽♀️

@@alexisfuller731 That’s not the point. Y’all act like we can’t have multiple shows about friends in the same city. White people do it all the time. Loved the show but it really bothered me that the girls sometimes act like they dont care about anyone but themselves. Like when Camille pursues a soon to be married man in front of his gf plus she also has a bf. Or Quinn who straight up ask a women on a date while she also has a BF and just started to get involved in his kid life too. Makes it hard too root for them😏
@lisacox37503 жыл бұрын
The show isn’t bad. My issue with this show is the same one I have for all the others including Insecure. They represent a certain type of black woman. Out of like 5 shows by now…you would think more black women would get representation. I don’t know if it is differences in generation but I’m closer to Megan’s age and still feel like our age group is not properly represented. I think it’s fine to have shows fir 20s and 30s. But what about black women in their 40s. We aren’t dead yet. I’m thinking if creating something for us since I’m a writer. Also, everybody isn’t from LA or NY …so there is no representation on that end either. LA and NY has its own thing that no one else can relate to. I’m black but I don’t really relate to these other black women because I’m not living the LA or NY lifestyle. But yeah…I’m writing some things myself to show a bit more representation…not saying it will turn into anything but I have to try.

A strong BLACK WOMAN that knows who she is and what she is, don't lay with woman and flop around with men and she has a strong connection with God. This is just my opinion as a black woman and I don't disrespect myself and other women by calling them the B-word, N-word, and any other words that would be degrading and disrespectful as oneself of being a BLACK WOMAN. My opinion, so I won't be watching this show or any other show that is degrading to black women and men, there is enough out there for the next generation to see. When will black actors and actresses stop allowing Hollywood to make blacks degrade themselves, even African movies are the same it's just African actors and actresses. Just my opinion.

I just finished binge watching this AND I NEED A SEASON 2 ASAP!!! I must admit at first it really felt like the characters were caricatures and not relatable. They just felt like a bunch of stereotypes thrown together. The actresses were overacting and I think it was on purpose but it was too much. It felt uncomfortable and not very enjoyable. The first 6 episodes were very meh 🤷♀️ However! The last 4 really reeled me in. We learnt so much about the characters and they started feeling relatable and human and LESS LIKE CARICATURES. I also love how they didn't make diversity feel like something that was just done for the sake of doing it. The characters were woven into the story and don't just exist to meet a diversity quota. So many shows get that wrong and they did it so well. The season finished strong and it left me with a lot of unanswered questions and curiosity. I want more! I really hope the writers and directors keep the vibe of the last 4 episodes and drop whatever tf they were going for in the first 6. This show needs a season 2, my heart just won't survive if it's canned after 1 season.
