EXTREMELY well produced demo... holy crap... I know how much work that split screen stuff is and it is great to see someone else who doesn't shy away from the time intensive editing. Great playing, good sounds, great information and a direct vocal sound without room tone... what else does one want... I didn't see the mention of my channel cominand that just out the icing on a very sweet cake! Thanks so much for that! I would recommend that Thomann does more videos with you!

Henning, there is one thing missing here and it's actually the most important part of a guitar demo for me - a playthrough of the guitar without the backing music and heavy production. Raw sound is what counts. Any guitar can sound good after it's produced in a studio and you know that! Nevertheless I still like Agufishes' work.

The era of expensive guitars, which only great idols had, is over. Some modifications and improvements made by a competent luthier on this guitar and you will have a good instrument. Of course added to that a good amplifier ... And know how to play ...

Harley Benton are great instruments in that price range. I myself got myself an Harley Benton J-Bass because I wanted to start playing bass and didn't want to spend to much cause I didn't know if I stick with it. Was a little bit over 150€ with a small amp, gigbag and so on.... For that price WOW. Feels really good to play, a quality build, nothing that seems cheap. A friend of mine also got a HB acoustic guitar that was also really nice to play and when I checked the price i nearly pissed myself. about 70€. I played acoustic guitars 4x that price who sucked in comparison. If you're looking for a cheap quality instrument then check out Harley Benton.

It makes me so mad that large guitar brands like Gibson pretend its a "high end" feature to add a third humbucker to their guitars, like seriously it costs nothing to add a third humbucker. Its a shame that most mainstream guitar brands keep features like these away from more reasonably priced models.

I'd love to hear you demo the same guitar but with some rock, blues, or any other type music. I love metal but I'd like to hear some diversity to see if this guitar could handle different music styles well.
@agufish8 жыл бұрын
I'd love to hear a demo of this guitar in other styles as well, but I think that's best left to other KZbinrs. Metal is kind of my bread and butter; when I hear riffs and songs in my head it's all metal. You'd definitely want someone like Shane from In the Blues to demo it in other styles instead of me haha.
@ehdforlife8 жыл бұрын
Agufish Only issue is I don't think anyone else will demo that guitar. Once question, when standing does the weight from it swing the neck downward? I had that issue with a vipor.
@agufish8 жыл бұрын
Haha, you never know. Thomann is trying to get their guitars to sell outside of Europe more and more, so they may be willing to send other KZbinrs some guitars as well! And yep, that's what I meant by neck-dive. Almost all SG-style guitars suffer from it because of the thin body. You can generally sort this out by moving the front strap peg or using a strap that isn't as smooth.
@ehdforlife8 жыл бұрын
Agufish I had SG's beforr and could deal with the neck dive by the vipors didn't fair as well, would you say it feels like your Epiphone? Thanks.

LOL maybe? But their stuff messes up the whole guitar value perspective. They are "this" close to being epi quality, for half or a third of the price. Some are even better than Epis. It's crazy. If it wasn't such a bitch to return them they'd won the US.

Yeah I've tried to get my Thomann guy through email but he hasn't responded, probably still on holiday. If you look up Nick in the States, he has a pretty good video on the new new CITES regulations and how that affects Harley Bentons. Long story short, the cost of importing/exporting rosewood is now super expensive, and isn't really viable for lower-range guitars. I'm not clear on how much Bento business they do to the States, but I can see them moving to other woods like roasted maple or wood alternatives like ebonol (which I'm a fan of) to continue to sell to the US.

+aditya chandrashekhar I did this video before the 2017 CITES rules went into effect. It's actually how I got to keep it, it was too expensive for them to get the paperwork to send it back lol. They are replacing the rosewood on the entire HB lineup with something called Roseacer (a kind of baked maple that looks and feels like rosewood). It's on some models like the 8 strings and some of the singlecuts, but not on this one yet. Should be getting some more Harley Bentons with Roseacer to try out :)

Honestly, a middle humbucker isn't that good. It adds fullness that's also kind of muddy. However, a SD Phat Cat (humbucker-sized P-90) like I have in the middle position of my Epiphone adds a nice sparkly twang to the cleans.

Yo dudes, I was thinking about buying this guitar. I'm not exactly a beginner but this is as much as my student budget can get me. Can any of you give me your opinion on the neck of the guitar? I heard somewhere that the neck really dives a lot and that it's mostly unplayable standing up. Any experience about this?
@agufish7 жыл бұрын
Depends what kind of music you're playing. The neck is reasonably thick for a metal guitar, but still quite comfortable. As far as neck dive goes, pretty much all SG style guitars have neck dive due to the position of the strap button, light-weight body, etc. It's not unplayable standing up, but you do always need to have a hand on the neck or it will dive.
@Satchel957 жыл бұрын
Well I'm more of a blues rock kind of guy so I guess it will suite me a little better. So what I understand is that the neck dive is manageable. Also props for responding in less than a day, you just earned yourself a new subscriber friend.

@Edward13128 жыл бұрын
There appears to be 3 versions of this guitar. The first has the correct SG shape and the diamond on the headstock, the second still has the diamond but has the unsymmetrical body shape, the third and last has lost the Gibson diamond on the headstock and has the unsymmetrical body shape. Version 1 is by far the best as its the closest to the Gibson guitar it was trying to copy. I believe Gibson has contact Thomman, told them to make the changes or lose the ability to sell Gibson guitars. We as customers end up with a progressively shitter guitar, it sucks.
@agufish8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure the guitars are necessarily shittier. Less "Gibson"-like for sure (their legal team is ruthless), but the early Bentos were pretty bad from what I hear. That being said, I do wish they still had the SG shape, I prefer it to the Viper shape.

How do I look if they ship to South America?
@agufish7 жыл бұрын
Right now due to the new regulations, they aren't shipping rosewood-equipped Harley Bentons outside of the EU. Thomann is trying to switch all the rosewood to alternative materials like baked maple and ebonol to sell outside the EU, and we should have more information in the coming weeks.

***** Thanks for the response, I'll be checking out for news, I would love to try this one and switch the fingerboard, nut and pickups. I love your channel, your demos are top notch, keep them coming :)

I've talked to my guy at Thomann and he said he'd get back to me in a couple of weeks so as soon as I know anything I'll be posting a video (or maybe since I'm not a Thomann spokesperson I'll post a Facebook status or something about it).
