I bought the same exact bike in January! Switched to Legend suspension front and rear before it left dealership. Added 12" Meathooks bars, Lepera Outcast seat, custom dynamics fillers light and turn signals. Also upgraded to 4" Rinehart slip-ons. Also swithed the snorkel breather to SE Ventilator. Took several personal mods for me, but that's the run of the mill for me being 6'2". I absolutely love this bike!
@HDVIBE Жыл бұрын
Thanks Tony for sharing your upgrades with us. I run Legends on my other bike and love them. The breather must go even for me being 5'10". It just doesn't work for rideability for most. It’s crazy watching these engines get bigger over the years. I purchased a brand new Super Glide Special in 1999. The 1st year of the 88ci. And everyone wanted to bump into 96ci…… and it just keeps growing. And we keep wanting more. Lol. I’m finally 100% happy with the 114. I don’t see doing anything more than a Stage 1. But Time will tell. Only time the bike is a little sluggish is riding 2-up.

I almost traded my ‘16 Road King for the same bike except in black. The dealer was asking $38K. We have such a short riding season here in Interior Alaska I couldn’t justify getting the bike. The Road King has been paid for so I would’ve taken on a payment in getting the Street Glide. Amazing bike nonetheless thanks for the video. Cheers from NorthPole, AK! 🎅🏻🎄☃️🇺🇸

Great overview, Rick. Rochelle is currently deciding between keeping her Low Rider ST and swapping it for the Street Glide ST. The Street Glide provides more room for taller people, and we both love the white sand pearl and bronze accents.

Thanks Roger for watching and commenting. I really enjoy this bike. I've gotten a few sound bites on the 2024 models... I was told which bike or 2 will I be trading in...because the lineup is going to be that good. 🤔

Best decision of my life. Same exact bike, but too quiet for me so Dealer made a deal to slam the SE Street Cannon, Tuner, SE Ohlins reservoir shocks and some accesories. Saving up for 135 tho. I love this bike since I'm a solo rider and that color looks so elegant, classy, yet rugged sporty and the pearl makes the bike looks so expensive especially with bronze contrast around it. On sunrise / sunset there's an orange bronze tint to it reflections from the sun. Plus this 117 ST comes with performance cam from the factory , it's a great start for anybody that wants to stay stock.

Congrats on your new 2023 SG-ST. Did you get the optional RDRS? These bikes have plenty of power as-is, and run well. I would immediately add the HD Fan (or a Thundermax Fan) to the oil cooler and have the HD Dealer flash the ECU. I'd also recommend to add the Trask M8 Checkvent for proper crankcase ventilation (plus this eliminates the OE plastic piece that does not ventilate the crankcase properly). When it comes to power, depends on your riding style and how much you want or need? Good Stage-1 would be more than enough for most, specially for 2-up riding, touring, etc. Good 2-1 exhaust, long primary tubes for torque [S&S 2-1 Sidewinder] and air cleaner upgrade (I like the HD-SE Extreme Ventilator). Eliminate the stock OE plastic intake manifold, and replace with the HD-SE 55mm aluminum intake (or the S&S 55mm aluminum intake)...not needed if getting the Stage-4 131 Kit (comes with a 64mm aluminum intake) or the 135 Crate Engine (comes with a 68mm aluminum intake). If the HD Tuner offers a Stage-1 Tune, that's one way to go and remain compliant for warranty purposes. IMO, worth it to upgrade the Cam Bearing and while in there, upgrade the oil pump and cam plate...HD-SE Pump & Cam Plate retain warranty (although I prefer the S&S Pump & Cam Plate). Replace the stock OE plastic anti-rotational lifter pieces with the S&S metal pieces. Costs of building up your existing engine versus an engine swap [HD Crate Engines, 131 & 135]. Crate engine saves a lot of labor. It is possible to do a "warranty build" and remain compliant, and have very good power and torque.

Beautiful bike. After you crack open the case, something is lost. It will never get back to factory spec again. I worry about going to big bore, and looking reliability. You have to keep that beast cool. Maybe a 122. I think I would just to a torque cam. Congratulations.

Thanks for watching and commenting. The 117 stock cam is very close to the SE8 -447 torque cam...so much so HD will not show it as a compatible part for the 117. @ Rick Your decision was the right one. Your ST in the chosen Color-Scheme is perfect. I like it 👌 From the point of view of a motorcyclist who pursues this beautiful hobby in Germany, the ST is clearly the better cruiser. The narrower roads and hairpin bends are much more pleasant to drive with a subtly more lean angle. Anyone can go straight - but that's not why I sit on a motorcycle. Winding country roads are the territory for motorcycles. And if you want to slow down and take the Harley instead of the Ducati, then it should also be able to master the tight hairpin bends without too much abrasion on the pegs. The price for the ST is already high enough, the price you have to pay for the CVOs is rather not justified by anything.

I think it was a fantastic decision. Really the only gain the new CVO has is the inverted front. An extra 4CI motor doesn't matter. Big Bear Choppers has an inverted front end with Ohlins internals for about $7000 if you wanted that nice front end with money left over to do the rear suspension. The being said, $7000 over the standard for a bigger motor and blacked out hardware is a tough pill for me to swallow. I would've bought a standard, leaned into the chrome/black aesthetic with a few aesthetic upgrades, inverted front end, rear suspension, brake upgrades, stage 1 (until the warranty runs out), Kraus setup, seat, mid-controls, Kruesi Skynet wheels (17" tire conversion for front and back), kruesi chain drive kit, upgraded driveline components, LEDs all around, and whatever else I can do until I hit $43k (estimated new CVO cost, in silver, with sales tax). Though, that Whiskey color is beautiful.

I’m going to put in a call out for the Street Glide . Let’s face it first of all , the Street Glide looks a thousand times better than the road glide. When I see a road glide, seriously it looks like you’re pushing a Publix shopping cart out in front of you . The street glide just looks mean purposeful and bad ass. The cockpit of the street glide again is a 1000 times better than the road glide, what’s the point of having your controls so far in front of you most people can’t reach them? And the analog gauges on the street glide just put a smile on your face every time you jump on it. Having owned both street glide and road glide , lets put to bed the silly talk about handling being better on the road glide because of the faring, I’ll tell you there is no difference above 3 miles an-hour at all, the buffeting on the freeways is The same on both bikes … fact! Go Street Glide and you go for one of the all-time best looking cruisers ever built - particularly while we can still have the great mix of analog and Digital instrumentation . Alternately, go road glide and get the best of the current Fashion trends of motorcycle design knowing it won’t necessarily stand the test of time that the Street Glide has.( look at the pictures of the new CVO’s whilst the street glide has simply been gently evolved The road glide fairing has gone through complete redesign by the look of it . Sadly it looks like they’re doing away with the analog gauges I think that’s such a big miss . That mix of digital gauges and analog gauges was part of the glorious character of the Street glide , have a look at a Ferrari - they’ll never do away with analog gauges because they know it’s that that gives you a heritage feel and smile on your face . looking at a blank screen frankly doesn’t inspire a feeling of character whatsoever. - just my opinion that’s all. So that’s it , a rare sticking up for the Street glide. I read so much nonsense about the difference between the road & street glide it makes me laugh. The answer to your question is yes and enjoy.

Thanks Nick for watching and commenting. I think maybe just the CVOs will have the VVT 121 engine next year. But I have heard some whispers that other new engines may be on the way soon. I hate that they put the gas cap off to one side. I prefer it in the center. I like the idea of the bigger motor but would also like bigger bags. Like the stretched ones on the street glide special. I also wish it came with the longer seat. You know. How it comes over the back of the fender. I do a lot of long haul trips and strap my luggage on the back part of the seat when I have my detachable king tour pack on. I also don't like the smaller engine/crash bars. I know they are shooting for the performance bagger style but just giving my two cents worth.

That's a sick amount of money for the new CVO. I think your price projections are accurate for those bikes. In my opinion, a motorcycle shouldn't cost more than $30k since I couldn't stomach paying as much if not more than what I paid for some of the fully loaded 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland I used to own, or the 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie Cummins I currently own. I'll stick with my 2016 Twin Cam Road Glide.

@@HDVIBE I think they just started to begin shipping them out to a few special customers. Don’t take my word for it tho. I wonder if you get the 135 installed in 60 days if it would be covered for thru your entire ESP lifetime. If you open the top end up make sure to strengthen them springs at least.

Hmm, I am just not a fan of the STs. I don't understand taking a perfectly good touring bike and trying to turn it into some kind of canyon carver. Raising bikes doesn't make any sense to me either. I am about to lower mine an inch for a lower center of gravity for better control. HD should have just started a new line of Sport touring bikes to compete with BMW head to head.
@HDVIBE Жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by and for sharing your perspective on the ST. While it does have a 1 inch longer shock than the specials, it is the same height as the Ultra Limiteds in both the batwing or Shark Nose fairing. Thanks for the support and ride safe. 👊👍✌️

I have the 128" kit but actually like the feel of the 122 much better as it has the torque cam as where that IS NOT an option with the 128/131. Also you didn't mention you must do the performance upgrade within the 1st 90 days, correct?
@HDVIBE Жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary for watching and commenting. Your point on the cam in the 131 kit is also something I have been a bit concerned about about. I've read you lose the low end torque with it coming on later in the rpm range. I have spoken with my local dealership on the timing and warranty coverage. In the past, this type of upgrade had to be completed in the first 60 days. I am told now it's covered at any point while the bike is in the 2 year warranty period. So you can wait beyond the first 60 days and still get the upgrade fully warranted for the remainder of the coverage period. I did a Stage 2 on my RGS with the SE8 447 torque cam and really like it. The 117 stock cam is very close to the 447 cam so if you go Stage 2, you must use the SE8 462 power cam. Thanks for the support and ride safe. 👍✌️👊

@@HDVIBE yes, my son has the 2023 Low Rider S and it was a beast right off the showroom floor (even though VERY quiet). At his 1000 mile mark he opted for the HP cam and man did it pull hard after that change even on the very bottom with the lighter 117 bike. It ran so good bone stock ya really wouldn't believe it was a Harley as it just spooled up so quickly.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
