Always likes the 72. Hard to find around me. Well, they’re hard to find in any decent shape. Every time I come across one for sale they’re so beat they look like they’re 40+ years old and we’re whooped their entire life. Yet they still ask 9K for it.

Hey! Did you solve the problem with the squeaking clutch? I’m going nuts with my bike. The clutch f@cking keeps doing the weird noise and I look like a noob taking off on trafic. This is killing me
@TheGingybeardMan2 жыл бұрын
If you have a heavy duty Barnett clutch its seems like its an issue which won't resolve. Maybe try using a high quality transmission fluid and not the harley brand oil.

@@TheGingybeardMan I can't seem to find that video. Just watched the "It happened again" video, though, but heard no mention of reason for selling the Bob. I am curious as to the change and reason(s) for same as I'm torn between the M8 Bob and a 72. The 72 has undeniable old school appeal and that Evo has a different, more "violent" pop to it than the Twin Cams and M8's it seems. The hop-up opportunities for a 72 are pretty vast as well (not to mention the aftermarket offerings as a whole) and I'd be toying with the idea of tearing one down to go 90 cu.in. or at least do the full boat Hammer 1275 program with heads and the whole nine yards. Then again, the big bore kits for the M8's are vast also and regardless of weight advantage of the 72 I reckon that it would not keep up even with a cammed 114 M8 Softie even in 1275 trim. But who knows. What say you? Granted, max torque and horse are not the end-all of a bike as there are other values that would make an ownership situation the most profound experience. Also, I'm not new to this as I started buying, wrenching on and riding bikes at 15 years of age back in 1970... Currently own a bought-new Yamaha Road Star 98 cu. in. that I've customized and modified pretty extensively over the last 22 years. Also own an 88 inch Deluxe (well, it's my wife's) and a V-Star 1100 that is also hers. In any event, I've been analyzing and philosophizing about going into another project and have even been looking at attacking either an Evo or TC Springer in the FXSTS version (skinny front tire). However, that 72 speaks to me and is pretty much the closest in size to what the Shovels and Pans where back in the day. Also, nothing Softail can ever really be a skinny chop/bob set-up as those motors are simply too wide for that, as is the enormous primary. That is why a big twin Evo based Bobber or Chopper never quite looks right. But, the 72 does have the correct proportions for being a base for the above type of scoot. Sorry this got a bit winded, Gingy. Have been following your endeavors on the 5 gallon tank switheroo etc., a while ago and was even reading up on that execution and adventure on one of the Harley forums, and so I felt compelled to inquire as to your change to the 72 from the Bob and your reasons why. It strikes me as though you're serious about what you do, continuously flushing out and dialing in, in order to find what it is that will ultimately make you happy as far as finding and having the most profound experience on a motorcycle. @@midnightmc3096 so I did a vid a while back titled "something happened with the Harley. In that vid I explain why I sold the street bob. In short I sold the street bob to put 16k towards a home deposit and the other 16k towards buying a Yamaha mt10. Long story short, I missed having a harley and wanted to buy another for around the 16k price range and a sportster fit that description. So I ended up selling the mt10 and bought the sportster 72. I honesty couldn't be happier with the 72, its probably my favourite Harley I've ever owned. Super light weight and plenty of torque although no where near as quick as the 107 with the torque cam I still have loads of fun on it. I've done loads of videos of the sportster 72 on transforming it more into an old school chopper style bike. I honestly don't think ill ever sell it. Ive still got loads more mods to do to it 🤟

@@TheGingybeardMan Yes, I just found it and watched it before seeing your above reply. Thanks so much! And also, yes - the home purchase was a wise decision and sometimes we've gotta' do what we've gotta do. My own home purchases have paid off handsomely over the years. There's nothing like being a home owner. All the best!

It the model name Harley gave it when they were being manufactured that gives heritage to the old 72 models. They made them from like 2009 till 2014 I believe.
