The plastic cover, and its counterweight, on my speedo needle fell off. So I had to take the speedo apart to fix it. This is how it was done.

Thank you for posting this. I knew I could fix it just couldn't figure out how do disassemble and wanted to make sure before I started prying on the face plate.👍

Nice video. Is that also a 4 inch speedo like on newer Harleys (Sporty, Dyna) or is it smaler? - Thank you

I think it is a regular part no. 67041-95D speedometer, but don't know the measurements of it.

This is a good fix however you all out there might want to consider quality hot melt glue to carefully glue the hub and counter weight back on. You may not even need glue as its a pressed snap in fit. I say this because super glue and Loctite glue has the potential to outgas an can cause hazing inside the gauge on the lens.

Good point. And yes, there should be no need for glue, but I really wanted to make sure I never have to go in there again-had the snap in fit design been sufficient I wouldn't have had to do this fix in the first place. The glue I used has caused no hazing so far, and it's been 2½ years now. Perhaps I was lucky. :)

I'm thinking of changing the dial on my speedy, is it possible to disconnect the needle?
@SvartaMasken6 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is the very same procedure as one would do when changing dial. You will find other videos here on KZbin that changes the dial on speedos (but for BT:s where the unmount-from-bracket-part differs while the having-opened-it-up-part is just the same).
