I’m really enjoying this build. I’ve got an 83 FXR that I did a new S&S top end on this winter mines Claret red with texture and gloss black powdercoating but yours looks awesome with all that chrome you’ve got me second guessing myself 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve got Big Als risers which look very similar to yours I’m going to upgrade my front end this winter with all the goodies I’ve already replaced the 35 with a 39mm. Looks great looking forward to more videos

Thanks for the feedback, awesome to hear you're enjoying! I love the Claret red, it'll look great with the black accents though. haha the chrome is gonna be a lot of upkeep, but I feel its worth it. My dyna is all black, so chrome felt a good way to vary the fleet. I have had big Als risers on other bikes and they're great. The 39mm is gonna be a great upgrade!

I just finished a frame up 1989fxrp… I was going to do a twin cam but figured the 88” evolution/tranny/etc… would be about 17-19 pounds lighter, not counting the fuel pump, electronics,etc… I used the basic moto gadget… waiting for fairing to come from painter in CA but am riding and a great ride.
@EngineersGarage1
@EngineersGarage1 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a killer build! That 17-19 lbs it's about what I determined the difference to be as well. On this bike I'm running a carb though, so hopefully that keeps the weight down a bit. I plan to weigh the bike, I'll make sure that makes it into a video.

Nice bike ! I have 2 FXR s one with a TC motor & the other with an Evo motor The Evo bike is lighter & better handling ! I used an adaptor plate on the TC powered bike & am considering going back to Evo power !
@EngineersGarage1
@EngineersGarage1 3 жыл бұрын
Hard to argue if you did go back the Evo is a great motor. From my math the TC is about 17-20 lbs heavier. To be honest I don't live in area where I'm gonna be pushing the bike to it's handling limits so the added weight wasn't too concerning. Still an FXR so should still handle great!

I thought I already commented on this bad boy, I must've hit enter though. As soon as your axle and shock bolts, I knew what kinda build this would be... seeing the Lyndal's, chromed wheels, then the risers, I already knew this will turn out sick. Im very partial to the blue n chrome look. What way are you going for tins? Also, I forgot MJK even made FXR/Dyna kit before the dramas. Are they old stock or something recent?
@EngineersGarage1
@EngineersGarage1 3 жыл бұрын
I'm spending a lot of attention to detail(and money haha) on this build so I'm glad you're picking them up! Blue and chrome looks killer in my opinion, your bike does it so well. Tins will be the factory ones for the FXRC. Metallic blue, black panel. Next video they'll be on. This is pre-drama MJK stuff. I've had stashed for a while. Just waiting for a stock swingarm, chrome build.
@Kevin_747
@Kevin_747 3 жыл бұрын
Very nice work. I'm curious if the '02 to '08 touring swing arm would fit and be an advantage since they are really beefy. I greatly improved a '95 touring chassis with one getting rid of the so called death wobble. You get the 1 inch axle with the cam adjuster's too.(more weight though) I'm sure you have many hours of mock up to make all those parts play nice together.
@EngineersGarage1
@EngineersGarage1 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That touring swing arm would work. Only thing I'd really need to change, to account for the 3/4 pivot shaft, would be to use an 02-05 transmission or just drill and ream mine, easy enough on the mill. I considered that route, but I already was planning on this MJK axle adjuster I had stashed away. If not for that I'd have a different swingarm for sure. I do have quite a few hours in mock up, I might revisit the swing arm in the future.
@Kevin_747
@Kevin_747 3 жыл бұрын
@@EngineersGarage1 Yes, I bored my trans. case to .753 for the 3/4 pivot. I had it out anyway so it was easy to square up in the mill using the trap door side. Your front brakes have ideas spinning in my head as stock brakes on a '95 suck.

It would be pretty easy to adapt the later model HD brembos. These brembos are off a GSXR, I didn't have the patience to machine an adapter so I spend the money there.

You got some nice parts on this thing. Why’d you decide to ru. The dyna brake and foot controls?
@EngineersGarage1
@EngineersGarage1 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Trying to do a nice quality build. I initially tried the FXR brake pedal mount, but it was too close to the transmission case. I milled down the pedal mount, but it was tight and possibly going to hit the case when the engine was running and shaking.
@user-xv7nz7xi8d
@user-xv7nz7xi8d 3 жыл бұрын
@@EngineersGarage1 a different transmission bolt with a smaller head would give you the extra 1/4” you need. That’s what I did for my set up because I did not want to modify the frame at all. Anyways, very solid build!
@EngineersGarage1
@EngineersGarage1 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-xv7nz7xi8d I considered going to a pan head bolt for some more clearance, but already had the frame to bare metal during the test fit so I went this direction. Thank you! It's getting pretty close to done
