I reuploaded this video because the day I originally uploaded, there was a glitch on KZbin and many people didn't get notifications so hopefully this time around it will do better.

My 1st bike was a 2019 Iron 1200. First thing i changed was the seat. I am a bigger framed guy and the factory seat is too narrow. I put the Sundowner solo seat on and rode the heck out of it comfortably. Loved it and hated to let it go after my wreck a year ago. Visor on my helmet fogged up in 38 degree weather and i went off the road and laid it over. Still wish i was able to keep it. Bike was fine, my leg is a different story, but I will have another bike one day!

I like a lot about the Iron 1200, the higher handlebars, the sport fairing, the paint and stripes, many things. But one thing I do not like is the gap between the seat and the fuel tank. Why does Harley leave that gap there? I've got a M8 114CI but I still love the Sportsters. If I could, I'd own one today. I don't like the looks of the Indian Scout. Wouldn't own one at half the price. The Sportsters are simple machines, air cooled, no radiator, coolant hoses, sensors, or fan. A simple motorcycle like motorcycles were years ago when I started riding back in the 60's other than EFI AND ABS. Back then we didn't even have a low fuel light, we just set the trip odometer evert time we filled up and watched how many miles we traveled. It worked fine, I never ran out of gas. SIMPLE SIMPLE SIMPLE - SPORTSTERS FOREVER!

Hello Hegshot and thanks for this video and the in-video comments. in Europe you can tour on any bike and definitely the Sportster on the small roads maximum speed between 70-90Km/h . I own a 1200T with windshield no problem to ride 4 hours... Here the Sportster are popular , it is a big HEAVY motorcycle specially dressed as mine with bags and windshield ... I took it on the highway 100-120Km/h for an hour or more, that was not comfortable as a BMW K1600 or a RoadKing or Ultra limited or Goldwing or a 30000 euro bike, however it was fine and fun and it cost 1/2 to 1/3 of the mentioned big bikes. Edit : took my daughter's for an hour ride too, she was fine and happy and asked for more rides .... On the net a lot of wrong misconception about Sportster been small, slow, impossible 2 up, can't go long distances, engine fail if driven long distances, legs burns.... That all rubbish surrounding a wonderful iconic bike of all times, it is old technologies bike but still kicking hard and it never ages. I think to keep my lovely Sportster even if I buy the BMW R1250RT.

My first evo sporty was the 3995.00 in black and inc. freight and docs. Ah, the good old days. Also, I had a mechanical low fuel warning…a petcock and a speedo with a trip indicator, a 4spd and chain drive. Friggin’ loaded, eh? My 2019 iron 1200 seems like luxury compared to the 86 even though this is the base without abs and alarm with keyless ignition. I didn’t want a tech overload. Gotta ease into the tech :) Notwithstanding, sportsters are fine machines, especially with ease of handling, good brakes, great fuel economy. The base black tanks with the throw up graphics from late seventies always gets comments. The only color I personally did not care for was the flat black tank with what I called the green goblin paint on it for ‘21. Not any issues since new five years ago and 15000 miles on the clock. Just normal servicing.

Great review. Watched this a couple of times now whilst waiting on delivery of my 2021 Iron 1200. I think you're comments, particularly at the 20min mark, really embody what this bike is and who it's for.

For worrying about gas, just use a little math. Measure gas mileage for a few tanks to know about the mileage you get. If you’re getting in the neighborhood of 50 mpg then you’ve got a comfortable 150 mile range on a 3.3 gallon tank. Set the Trip A or Trip B at each fill up. Then, when you want to know her far you can go, just check the trip gauge. But you have to form the habits of filling up and zeroing the trip gauge each time you stop for gas.

I went for the sport glide and endded up after the test ride buying the sportster XL1200T in 2019. My opinion if your pocket are deep go for the big one. If pocket very deep go Indian they are much better than Harley. If you want a real bike touring go BMW r1250rt it is wonderful comfortable she got everything stock just ride one and You are set. It cost cheaper than Harley

It truly was the last great Sportster. Glad I got one before it was discontinued. Mine is a 2020 Iron 1200. I'll never sell it. Especially now that they've stopped making them. However, now that the patents have run out I see them being made in China. 😪 What is going on in this country? I guess I'm a dinosaur who's not comfortable with change.

@@motorcycleislife8296 I’m used to doing long distance trips anywhere from 4-7 hours. Is this bike at all capable of long highway riding? Let’s say for example riding from Phoenix AZ to Grand Tetons WY. Is this too uncomfortable for long distance?
@motorcycleislife82963 жыл бұрын
@@19MadMax98 No. If you do alot of long distance riding buy a tour bike like a street glide or road glide. This bike is really for around town and riding some highway. It has plenty of power but due to the weight of the bike it gets shaky at 85mph. The max ive gone is 95 mph and it felt like going 140mph. Its the perfect city bike thats it.
@motorcycleislife82963 жыл бұрын
The heavier cruisers suck around town because of the weight 750+ but on the highway they are comfortable. You have to decide what kind of riding you do.
@motorcycleislife82963 жыл бұрын
imo, the best decision is to have a naked sportbike like the mt10 and then have the iron 1200 for around town. There are days i want to haul ass and other days i like to cruise and enjoy outdoor nature. Riding the Harley has more character and rumble.

This is the last of its kind. From 2022 onwards, all sporter engines will replaced with those new ‘pan am’ engines. The last Harley thrill is on this bike. No more rumbles or ballsy going forward. Better to buy a kawasaki for half the price and get the same amount of butter smooth feeling. Harley is dead
