I'm 71 now with some health issues. I am downsizing my motorcycles and have sold my Harley Fatboy. I recently purchased a 2019 Harley 1200 iron, ( twisted cherry) with the custom pipes, air cleaner et al and am very happy with the bike. What a blast to ride. Thanks for your video, it was helpful in my desire to keep riding Harleys.

Two great things about the Evo Sporty long-term: a) an incredible amount of aftermarket, especially on stuff like suspension and handlebars, and b) everything that can go wrong on an Evo Sporty, has, and parts/repairs are generally rather affordable when something does break

I have a Heritage and have started looking around for a 2nd motorcycle to run about town on for shorter hops. You have one of the best reviews I’ve seen here on KZbin for this model. Great job. Looks like Harley-Davidson is phasing out the Iron 1200 so it looks like I’ll have to get a used one. Take care and ride safe.

You're a dual sport guy, as long as I've watched your channel. Its no surprise to me that the 1200 didn't do it for you. I have an 18 Ultra Classic(4th Harley) and it is perfect for long trips double up. My gal and I rode it from Nor-Cal to Central Illinois last year and even she loved it as the passenger. The lil 1200 is a boulevard cruiser, nice and light for in city riding. I like my KLR, its great for putzing around on but it would suck to do a long trip 2-up on. I mean really suck. Suck very badly. Did I mention it would suck? OK, maybe that gets the point across to those that Harley bash in the comments. Different bikes for different purposes. I also have a Kawasaki ZZR1200, once again a very different tool. Good luck in your search for the Harley's replacement. Its always fun to bike shop.

I bought this bike last month, and I’m just surprise on how BAD it is on the Highway. It WOBBLES heavily the moment u hit 120km/h . I was terrified at times. 120kmh is peanuts with most bikes these days. See, when u buy an expensive bike like Harley, the least u could do is 120kmh! I’ve got a Kawasaki vulcan 900. And boy, that is far better than this. The Harley has more torque tough, but what’s the point when it can’t do 120kmh? Lol.
@omarsalgado97153 жыл бұрын
I own a 2007 Sportster and I've never experienced a single wobble, not even when I had exceptionally reached 170 km/h. When ridden at 120 km/h, what is annoying is the wind pressure on my chest. Look for under inflation of the tires. Also relax the arms; support your weight with your abdominals. Those are the two main causes of wobbles in any brand of bikes.

Ok you clearly are a dualsport guy, BUT by anchance did you you maybe considered to modify that harley into a scrambler? Ok it may not transform into an endure machine but there are plenty of guys that they made the sporter into a scrambler and had good results in the dirt. Since you are blessed with long legs , rasing the seat height with longer shocks, better handlerbars etc it will be easy for you to maneuver it.

Trust me the roads here in WA are silky smooth compared to NSW, so we can lane split in WA?

As far as I am aware, splitting in stationary traffic is legal here. Gets a little grey when the traffic is moving. Admittedly haven’t checked the legislation recently so can’t confirm 🙃

Did you have to adjust the suspension to make the jarring better?
@chroniclesofsolid4 жыл бұрын
Never got around to it unfortunately.
@pythonflying4 жыл бұрын
@@chroniclesofsolid In your opinion, do you think it would have made it better to make some adjustments? I have this bike and I am really thinking of trading up, but if I can make the ride easier even for in town, I will keep it.
@chroniclesofsolid4 жыл бұрын
Tony A440 my plan was to just upgrade my rear shocks to (choose your suspension company) a 13 inch to improve the ride. Adjustment may have improved it a little but the reason they are hard is that they only have 2 inches of travel so it’s got to be stiff to compensate bottoming out. Can’t have that low look without it.
@timcarter76165 ай бұрын
@@chroniclesofsolid Progressive 412 shocks 12.5 " provide 3.14" of travel and the ride is nice. That's the first thing I changed.

A good review the Harley is not for everyone the limited range and short travel suspension rule it out for me. The new Yamaha 700 Tenere looks the goods but too tall for me, before suggesting which bike might be next bike for you I would need to know what sort of riding you wish to undertake and how hard you like to ride. looking forward to see what bikes are suggested.

Limited? Bullshit! I put on a memphis shades wind screen, a set of saddlebags and a mustang seat on my sportster 1200 custom and was able to ride it to Daytona and back, and Laconia and back. Both those trips were over 860 miles one way from where I live. My 1200 Sportster handled it like a champ and could keep up with the best of them on the open road. Besides, there are thousands of aftermarket mods available for sportster that allow you to customize it to fit your needs/wants and it still cheaper than buying a much more expensive soft tail.

The red and silver painted models seem to highlight the blacked out engine more than the black models where it just blends in. I like the red. As of this writing, the air cooled sportys are gone…too bad. First the 1200s left in 2021 and 883s in 2022. In my humble experience, air coolers are cool. Very simple and tested design with good fuel mileage and cool looks. I love riding a sporty with a group of badasses, parking, ordering up our diet cokes and looking like bunch of ‘puffs in the parking lots. Hah!
