This bike is looking downright *mean*! 👹😎 It's tough to beat the strength to weight ratio of that thick injection molded stuff, for sure.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, no need to too particular about the base, after all, you'll ever see it..lol!

Shes looking good. 1. Is the fuel tank a bit "high" when you sit on the bike? not sure how to explain that... ok, kinda like an old tiger tank..compared to a fazer 1000 tank...(wish u tube allowed pics lol) 2. If I find any kevlar, do you want me to fling it over... I heard you say about sending the seat out to the upholsterer, but... what about a kevlar cover for it? 3. GENIUS idea using the old plastic seat... are you gonna chop the back bit off, and make it a perfect fit for your bum? Engine bars for the big scrambler... I was hoping you were gonna make them from scratch lol I need to make a set for divi 900 bike #2. Divi 900 - bike #1 already has a set, but I need another for bike #2. I have a good idea of how to do a set, since I obviously already have an after market set, plus a load of metal bar lying here and there in the bike garage. Todays Proverbe:- Utterly utterly true... New years day, I wiped 23 people off my facebook friends list... not one of them noticed, and messaged me. Feb 15th was my 51st birthday, none of the 23 got in touch to drop me a happy birthday message... so, tis true.. Previously when I've taken someone off, they only got in touch to ask me to fix their computer or laptop. Are you and Penny doing any rallies this year? I did The Dragon Rally last weekend. Weather was stunning lol.. no rain, not cold... I was sooo let down... lmao I'm off to cook a BIG rib eye steak out in the garage on an ammo tin stove bbq... thats my birthday meal...and I have a couple of cans of beer. lol Skál dudester.

Hi mate, first of all Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great evening. Thanks for the kind offer on the Kevlar, I'm alright on the upholstery, going to be using a traditional material and a very kind upholsterer friend of mine has offered to let me help make it under supervision! Going to have fun shaping the foam up. Sadly, I don't get time for rallies these days, but the Dragon is certainly a beast, it sounds like you got away with the weather on that one... I did that in the snow years ago and it's proper gnarly!

Hi Penny and Del - another great video! It's nice when you can use what you have instead of making something new (although watching you fabricate is always fun). Looking forward to seeing how this seat, er, pans out. Take care, be well, ride safe!

Thanks so much buddy! 😊 Glad you enjoyed it.. can't see any reason not to use the big seat base, ill want the bike comfortable and rideable, all too many custom seats are made tiny and pointless so they "look cool", gonna see if i can have both..lol!

If you got the right mould you don’t need the foam, but foam does give you that option.

Pretty cool, Del. That was a lot of staples to remove! Looking forward to this part of the project. BTW, I’ve seen the foam reshaped by ppl using an electric meat carving knife. It looked like it worked brilliantly. Hope you both are doing well there! 🏍👍🏍

They do work well for sure, ive used one for that job myself.. just can't find where i last left it, moved twice since then, and can't justify buying one just for a few cuts.! ... Think the MIL was last using it for shaving her legs...so the blades'd be wasted anyway..!

Great plan to use as much of the seat you already have. LOL on Harley putting the bar and shield everywhere (and having a whole legal dept. to make sure nobody else does). On an un-related note I finally decided to stop breaking that commandment that tells us not to covet thy neighbors center punch and order one of those cool springy punches for myself. 😁 Thanks Del and Penny for braving the cold and still putting out a great video. Blessings and stay safe friends.❤👍👍

Sure thing Rick, sometimes we just need those certain tools and you won't regret it, they're a great investment! Saw the price of raw foam and the minimum sizes available, I'd end up wasting 90% of it, so I've got a cunning plan to use the bits I cut off to build up the areas I need, after all, it's all under a cover once's it's done! Have a great weekend there, finally warming up here but still no sunshine lol , take care, D&Px

Hello Del, I'm a relatively new sub to your channel. I was wondering if you serviced other people's machines? I have a GL1500SE/Panther Trike which is running high and I've no idea why? I have a couple of other things I'd like done also, but I've no faith in dealers workshop's in my area! I'm in my 70th year and unable to work on the trike for various reasons, besides I'm no mechanic! Are you able to help? If so, we can discuss further by email, phone, etc. Many thanks, Mel

Hi there Mel.. Sadly i don't take on commercial work for people, unfortunately with a day job and KZbin projects, i would never have the time to fit customers in... You mentioned the bike's "running high"! it's not something as simple as adjusting the idle speed maybe?.. the little wheel next to your fuel filler cap ? have you given that a try mate ?
@MelHayler
@MelHayler Жыл бұрын
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks for your reply Del. All understood about your commitments. Honestly, I didn't know about the wheel you mentioned lol. I'll be taking a look at that in the morning! I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Take care, Mel
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Hey Mike.. No problem, you should see it to the right of the filler cap, a small thumb wheel, looks like it's connected to a rubber tube. Make sure the engine is at full working temperature, then just turn the wheel with finger and thumb and it should adjust the idle speed..! Good luck with it sir.. !
@tommylitchfield3450
@tommylitchfield3450 Жыл бұрын
I had to wonder if that was an aftermarket seat, or if the pans were different before the rubber mounted engine Sportys, because your pan doesn't have that awful to fit keyhole plate in the middle of the seat that you have to deal with on the stocker that I recently replaced. The aftermarket seats do away with that nonsense and have a much thicker pan. My stock pan was broken at that keyhole steel plate and you had to bend the seat like a banana just to remove it. The style you have is so much better than the stock pan! The thick pans ride better, since the foam is all that flexes, so your bottom don't bottom out on the frame! She sure looks good with the tank in place! Stay warm, guys
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 Жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy, I think you're right, these were a better design of seat fitment, there's a heavy duty steel plate at the front that the seat pan just hooks under, and also on these earlier models, I prefer the tank mounting design where the rear mounting bolt is hidden under the tank... rather than 4" back down the frame... it seems that sometimes Harley's forward design movements aren't always very 'forward'! ...not sure about the origins of the seat, for all I know it could be Harley, am just glad it's in great condition and I can re-purpose it!
