I was the same way, I like my sport bikes and my cafe racers but I wound up with a Harley Sportster iron head, which if you don’t know it has heads made from cast iron. It’s heavy but just so raw and old feeling. I fucking love this thing. Solid engine mounts, combined with a stroker kit, new cams, Front springer and a hard tail conversion, it feels like it’s a metal horse under you every time the thing thumps at idle. They are stupid easy to work and the engines are archaic as hell. It’s not a performer but similar to an old muscle car. It’s not the best but if you love vintage bikes, all Harleys have that vintage feel to them

That PanAm will only compare to a Super Tener - Yamaha 540 and 560lb of weight is a looooot compared to today's machines. Thank god they have smart zealots to help'em survive.

Comparing with the likes of the GSA and Multi’s, I am not sure whether Harley has got the pricing game right. 19000 $ for a bike that needs to be accessorised and that accessory catalogue does cost a bomb I must say. Giving a few highlights as a comparison, for 20000 $ BMW offers the GSA with a 40+ year model heritage, 30 odd litre tank, engine protection, AUX LEDs as standard, attachment for pannier pre fitted. The bike looks awesome though

In fact the Special version too does not come equipped with AUX lighting and complete engine protection (I guess it has some basic protection around the cooling fans on the side). If you compare the Special with GSA, for that money GSA hands down gives more bang for the buck. Not putting the Pan Am in the bad light, it’s a drop dead beauty and looks absolutely stunning (being a Road Glide admirer, have a liking for this fairing)

So I got to ask a question how do you know it's a great bike nobody's ever ridden it. Is it a great bike like my 2016 Road Glide that came from the factory with a cracked front cylinder. And Harley Davidson wanted to put a cylinder on a front end stuff the old piston back in that cylinder with no rings on it yeah I'm sorry I wouldn't do that to a Briggs & Stratton motor

Sad to see it's so expensive in Aus. About 5K more than a BMW R 1250 GS. Ride away for a BMW is 27,419 here in South Australia. Pricing starts at 32K (ouch) And its not available until May. Talk about a limp launch. This thing has been talked about for years and years and it's still coming. I bet other touring bike makers are not that worried.
