I really like the way Luke addresses some of the issues beginners have such as putting the harp at a 90 degree position and lowering it until the note is hit. These tips can be really helpful. Low Rider is a good choice for learning notes at the end. It’s easy to follow and a recognizable song for most anyone.

I have been playing the harmonica casually for many years (i.e. with no instruction - my apologies to my family) and I’ve seen a lot of “how to” videos. This short tutorial just taught me more in a few minutes than hours of other online videos did combined. Your video is a revelation in it’s ability to really TEACH! You’d think the goal of any instructional video would be to present the material in a clear, concise and friendly manner. Most are the opposite. Teaching is an art and your video is a perfect example for others to follow. Don’t EVER stop! Your help has improved my harmonica tremendously, I (and definitely my family) thank you for it! I’ll watch whatever you produce, Luke!

WoW !! Upto now, you’re the best to explain it in lay language ! And, for a French Canadian like me, your English is very easy to understand.👍👍 I wish you a successful continuation !!

This is my first time of holding and playing a harmonica, I just finished your video and yep I'm doing the isolation of notes right now. Your explanations are so simplified even a five year old can understand and play isolated notes on harmonica hehehe. Thank you and more power to you. Greetings from the Philippines. 💕

So at the beginning of this video I had absolutely no clue if I was doing any of it right... But by the end I could hear when I was able to isolate a single note! Awesome tips that really did work and explain things in a way that made sense. Thank you!

After getting fascinated by harmonica when I was 9, it took me 23 years but today I bought one. Started practicing with another video, then saw "Lowrider" and had to watch this. Glad I did, I'm definitely sticking with the instrument. Thanks Luke, you're an amazing chad! Cheers from Italy!

Has played harmonica for many years. With my new golden melody, it did not go so well until I saw your video. Now things are going better than ever before, already after a few minutes. Very thankful!

My harmonica just came today and this is the first song I am learning a part of. I've been playing ukulele since March last year (2020) and I was practicing Desolation Row a few days ago and loved the harmonica solo while I listened to the original song. I don't know how long it will take me to learn something akin to that but once I do, I will be unstoppable!

Nice! Congrats. You can do it! You could be playing songs like that within a few months. If you're really wanting to turbocharge you growth you might like to check out my Beginner to Boss course: www.harmonica.com/lessons/

Learned how to play "love me do" when I was about 12 on a cheap harmonica C that I bought at a kids toy shop. Just got a really nice harmonica from my uncle last Christmas and decided to see if I could still play. So here I am! Thanks for these tips!

Great video. You are a really good teacher and, believe me, being a good player is NOT the same as being a good teacher. Thank you.
@Harmonicacom3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that! And I know what you mean. A lot of the best players are just "naturals" so when you ask them what how they do it they're like "I don't know! I just do it!" LOL. That was never me, ha!

Luke, I really appreciate your attention to detail when teaching us about tongue and lip positions. I teach dancing, so I know how much a small detail can help or hinder. I also know how important it is to practice the basics. As aoon as I finish your playlist, I'll be subscribing to your Beginner to Boss course. My brother plays blues guitar, and I'm really looking forward to jamming with him!

I want you to know this video helped me immensely. I've been playing for a bit now, but not enough to not watch a video cause it's marked "beginner", lol. Your explanation about tilting the harmonica and pulling down your bottom lip immediately improved my playing! I haven't gotten this info from any video lesson I've seen, or maybe I missed it! Lol, either way thank you so much.
