I thought you were gonna tell me to turn my phone off from the title. The best way to balance dopamine is to restrict it. Too much free dopamine online and its really takes away from the feeling of accomplishment vs actually accomplishing something as you eluded to.

Dopamine is the chase of the pleasurable stimuli. Yet, yet, yet, the feeling of pleasure of the act/ stimuli is the ENDORPHINS. There is a lot of neurotransmitters being activated in pleasure, yet the ones we discussed would be like the elephant in the room or a better example would be you may have to move a lot of furniture in a living room to move the biggest piece of furniture which is the couch. Other things are getting moved, but the couch is our objective. Endorphins. Pleasure. Yet, dopamine in some respect could be synonymous with adrenaline. Paradoxical. It is similar when released, but nothing like that all at the same time. She's good. Intuitively.

There's a very famous quote from the late Thich Nhat Hanh about meditation doing the dishes: "There are two ways to wash the dishes. One way is to wash them to get them clean. The other way is to wash them in order to wash the dishes." The point is that for meditation to take place you have to be fully present while doing the dishes and not just doing them mindlessly.

Great as always. And a really good reminder point for me to think about all the "hits " I am probably seeking ( lol much like any addiction) IN MY daily life , but as a routine rather than for sustaining my self. I hope that makes sense. Because often what you think you are struggling to find words to express to us, does make perfect sense to me. This topic is something for me to explore further. So thank you once again ❤

this was hittin all the right notes for me. great tingly triggers and crystal sounds, and your self reflection on your relationship with dopamine rushes was really resonant for me. I often watch ASMR and play a game on my phone to wind down, but because of the theming of this vid, and how I’m feeling tonight, I gently challenged myself to stay focused on only this video. it was really calming and heart-opening, and I had some great self-reflection. thank you for this lovely experience, Lune. ❤️

Ok absolutely love this as I’m a big bio psych nerd! First, long time fan I’ve been watching you for years and am consistently drawn back to your materials. That being said, I would like to clarify some things about the beauty of the chemical that is dopamine, it is a neurotransmitter (for example alcohol triggers GABA (another neurotransmitter) which has inhibitory) and a hormone (think estrogen and testosterone). In regards to how it interacts with our “reward system” there are 3 ways. 1. something is surprisingly good because you had low expectations, gives you that dopamine HIT 2. you expect something is good and it is so it doesn’t hit the same way (like not at all) 3. something good turns out to be bad (disappointment) and dopamine levels drop. All over simplified of course but that’s the jist. Also, the “control center” you’re talking about can also be referred to our pleasure center (because dopamine floods the system during orgasms yeehaw) and it relates to addiction as people who have lower levels of dopamine in this area, can be predicted at a more than average likelihood of turning to substances to increase dopamine levels. Also, with regards to the whole talking about a project analogy there could be two reasons. 1, as mentioned above how dopamine no longer hits if its the same thing . but also 2, our brains don’t understand the difference between reality and fiction. Basically, if you imagine a sad scenario you’re likely to cry because even though its just what you’re thinking your body genuinely believes its going through it (PTSD episodes are a great way to think about this concept as their is a physical reaction to a mental event). So even if it’s just talking about your vision for the project, your brain has basically been like okay and we did work on that project today even if you didn’t actually do a thing. Anyway, I adore that you’re bringing bio psych into your work and hope you can continue to do so in the future!

Why was the most perfect video that could’ve possibly crossed me ?? My dopamine has been not good. I think I’ve been overindulging to the point of extreme agitation. I always get this way at a certain point in my hormonal cycle where I’ve been wayyy too lenient and indulgent. (PMS, lol) Thank you so much!

I wanted to thank you so much!!! I started out getting on KZbin to see if ASMR videos would help me because I have been through a lot with my sister. Several things had been said between us and I lost it and quit eating and sleeping which made me come so close to overdosing on my regular seizure meds and I had to make the painful decision to cut ties with my sister which had always just been my person. I never heard of Reiki or talked about energy healing or manifesting things. So I listen to you every night while I am trying to heal and do what is best for just me and not concern myself with others opinions and not letting them to tell me what is right. It is hard to stop thinking she always knew better after 52 years. I so wish I could have a in p person. That would be great to meet you but even if you could, I live in Oklahoma so little far from Florida.

Yes, dopamine is what gives you a sense of reward; it makes you pursue and engage in a task; it drives you to desire to engage. Without dopamine, you’d die doing nothing at all lol It not having much to do with pleasure, like some people seem to think. The pleasure is engaging in something because it feels rewarding and you’re being driven to partake in a task. That’s where the pleasure comes from regarding dopamine. It’s a side effect, kinda
