Harmony's Purpose (Spreading Love and Peace in the World)

Harmony stopped growing at age 3 and will forever be 19 pounds and 33 inches tall. This is her story.
Harmony was born with Primordial Dwarfism, Epilepsy and Seckel syndrome . She was then adopted into a family with 10 siblings.

What an AMAZING family. I can't imagine the depths of pain they've been through losing ten of their own, but to turn that pain into love and giving instead of giving up. They've changed all of those kids lives. Holy wow. Makes me cry. What a miracle this family is.

Harmony is just a delight. They all are. Mia has such a safe, comforting presence, and Harmony is so funny and clearly very smart. Even though she doesn't talk, she clearly has a lot of social intelligence.

i wonder if it was a genetic thing as to why they lost 10 of their biological children. it's awesome they adopted these children and that they all seem so happy and taken care of. Harmony is adorable and seems so happy and intelligent. i hope they continue to live happy long lives.

I was wondering about that. They may feel that losing a pregnancy is losing a child. I’m not saying that like they’re wrong if that is what they mean. I’ve never been pregnant and I truly don’t know if that’s how they lost ten children. I would just be surprised if they lost ten bio kids in a different way than that

Oh I cried watching this video. The mum said "we are a foster family. We lost 10 of ours, so we adopted 10." That's big. The bound between Harmony and her mum has been derived to the Dad and to Mia, and after loosing (I suppose babies or children, or very dear ones) she is watching and taking it as it is. Not that she wouldn't need Harmony's attention and affection. This mum as long as all the family are worried Harmony would be gone. I imagine they think about it often, if not daily. Meeting Harmony and her lovely, lovely extended family was so wonderful. I want to live there! Three generations, lots of kids everywhere of all ages and both genders, and the central person, the driving force is tiny Harmony! What a true blessing she is! My family is blessed with several members who grew up adapting to challenges from birth. They are amazing. Years ago I happened to buy a book called, " The Power of the Powerless". Sadly, I don't remember the author's name, but I am forever indebted to him. He wrote about his brother who had been born effectively without a brain. He had a brain stem which allowed the major organs of his body to function. However, he'd been born a beautiful baby who was blind, deaf and incapable of any kind of meaningful functioning other than being an eternal, dependent infant. And yet, he was so very loved by his family! He was not expected to survive very long, not much beyond infancy, but he thrived! He never grew, remained an infant as predicted, but was contented and healthy, very much part of the family. The author assumed rightful responsibility for caring for his brother as he became older and a bit more mature. He didn't mind at all. He loved his baby brother. Caring for him was an act of love not a chore. Likewise with his family. Years went by. The author grew up, went off to college, was dating, choosing career. He always introduced his friends from college but also his dates to his entire family which included his brother. Not all reactions were the same. Some people were nervous meeting a person unknown to them and with significant challenges in daily living. This was his brother, a person most dear to him. One day he brought a lovely girl home that was very special. He liked her the most of any he'd introduced to his family. It was his brother's dinner time so he decided to make introductions while he fed supper to his brother. He was anxious how she would react meeting him for the first time. He made polite introductions explaining the profound and tragic deficits his brother had suffered in utero and also at birth. He described that rather than be horrified, repulsed, she quietly asked if she might take a turn feeding his brother. And so she did. A bond was made in several ways. This was the girl the author married. His point to be made in writing the book was, his beloved brother was significantly impaired at birth to the extent that he had no brain. Should not have been able to survive, yet lived powerless. In that state of being, he exerted the most amazing powers over other beings around him! How? Why? Where? It wasn't possible! Yet it did happen! This powerless baby was loved so powerfully, so beautifully that amazing things around him just occurred! Magically! Like darling Harmony whose three generation, gigantic family is transformed from a normal, busy, noisy one into a more serene, very loving, very happy family...all because of a tiny tippy-toed, darling, little fairy who flitters and sometimes flipitty flaps around and lands on her brothers to give them tinkling tickles to make them not sad. The "Power of the Powerless" is a magical force that truly exists in our Universe! Not everyone is blessed to be living with one who possesses such Power. Thank you for sharing beautiful Harmony.

I just love everything about this family! Beginning with "We lost 10 of our own so we fostered & adopted 10." And i can see the harmony, Harmony brings. I understand the back of mind worry about Harmony's longevity. I know it's different but it's something Im aware of with my pups - I know they dont live forever - and the thought of either/both passing can easily make me viscerally ill if i let the thoughts fester - so instead I give them more love, more attention & make sure they & the universe know how thankful I am to have them in my life & do what i can to give them a great & long life - and try not to be sad or down bc whenever I am, like Harmony they come over & cheer me up. So I try to remember that any being that truly loves you - wants to see you happy. Someday when they pass, i hope I remember that & keep smiling despite the heartache i know i will feel. When the mom says they list ten of their own??? Were these miscarriages? Heartbreaking. But so wonderful that they instead chose to give back give a home to 10 children. That's what more people should be doing. Too many kids out their without devoted love and attention and their own place to feel safe... We need more people like this family

When you start your life with a lot of love in your life that guards you every single day and helps & protects you.
