I love Dvorak; he sounds so melodic and modern.

Despite its stylistic diversity, Dvorak was above all a composer of expressionist aesthetics, always close to drama, depth, anguish and the deep and tormented vision of life that seems to emanate from the metaphysics of man as of his very deep nature ! Mucha, the painter is sublime and his images stick to the sounds of the divine Anton

Yhe works of Dvorak for piano are fewky known, except hte humoresque op; 101 in Gb major, and most of the time in various adaptations. Dvorak had been an organist and was familir to clvier writing. Schumann is not very far, not by the feeling, but by the writing. This suite is absolutely delicious. Thanks for posting. Thanks also to Radoslav Klapil who plays these pieces and various others suh as the op. 101 and 85.

The notes and comments do not mention that this piece was composed in America and is filled with Dvorak's "American Sound". This is often called the "American Suite". It concludes with his evocation of Native American music which he cleverly morphs into early ragtime! I know Kvapil knows this because he and I were at a Dvorak in America Festival held in Newark, NJ, USA. He told the audience that he had changed how he played this suite as a result of the closer understanding of the American elements he had gained at the Festival.

There is the near quote of "Old Dan Tucker" in the final movement.
