I wanted to release this cover for my 30th birthday (May 30) to pay tribute to the film, kick off the summer, and announce that I am working on a Studio Ghibli harp collection album!

I was in my late teens when I had seen this film, but what made it special was I was watching it with my beloved nieces (now ages 26 and carving their own life path). Beautiful, touching harp cover. i had a family member pass away a few days ago. this song really reminded me of her, she had cancer and the last moments of her life were not especially happy ones. her daughter didn't even know her very well, and although it's good that she's gotten over it so quickly, she hasnt shown to care much. i love this cover because it kind of helps me think that shes at peace now. it was really bad for her- she had two types, i forgot what they were though. she had to eat through a tube and couldent talk to hear. i can kind of visualize her last moments happy ones, and i hope she came to accept it and be at peace forever. she deserved so much more love than she recieved. i know this isnt really a place to vent, but id just like to share it. rip, lihn. we love you.

man...I should really watch this movie again, and get around to some of their other films soon. Really love this whole cover. I got myself a cheap harp a while back because I've really wanted to learn it, but so much of my time is spent practicing drawing instead, but watching people play as well as you do is really inspiring.

Loved it, best part was seeing you play & knowing its special meaning to you. Great piece for your new cover album. I hope you do something from Nausicaa as I found that to be one of the best & first scores Joe Hisaishi did that impacted me(also his work on Robot Carnival though that wasnt a Ghibli film). His older work seems to have had a bit more magic & I think Spirited Away was the last score he did that really hit me hard the first time I heard it watching the film. Watching the better Ghibli films again on Bluray is a treat...some of the few things I can watch & truly feel like a kid again. Looking forward to the album! ♥

Really great interpretation on the piece! One thing to note though is that the bass didn't have enough presence when plucked. I'm not sure whether it's the dynamics, the mic'ing, or the production. I know it's not on my end because my headphones have a V-shaped sound profile and are well-amplified. Maybe experiment with a closer mic'ing or a dynamic mic array to capture both the instrument and the room.
