Thanks for sharing this incredible location. The best trail experiences are the ones we take for granted closest to home. You're fortunate to have an abundance of destinations so close to your tdy location.

There are a ton of great trails close by me. I'm really trying to take advantage of it, but I sometimes forget how hard some of them are. I did see your last question and forgot to respond. I just did the doxycycline process, the several times I've been diagnosed with it I have caught it within days of the bite, so far I've not had any long term problems. Also, happy belated birthday!

Nice video as always. I love seeing these Hariman hikes. Reminds me that I have to get out there more. Have you ever hiked up to Popolopen Torne? That's a fun one in Harriman. It's not that long of a hike so you would definitely want to add more peaks but it's a cool spot. Happy trails Spyguyver!!!

I don't believe I have made it to Popolopen Torne, but I will be adding it to the list! So much good stuff out there!

LMNT is pretty good stuff. I used it on the CT last year. But I do have to say the spicy ones are not very good, just stick with the basic citrus type flavors. Oh BTW I used my Ridgerunner last weekend on a backpack trip for the first time since I got it back from you. I used my new Sea to Summit Ether Light XT regular wide in it and it was amazingly comfortable. For some reason before this I never found it to be all that great. Without the pad I seemed to have the shoulder squeeze. Thanks again for the ridgeline you put in it.

Right on, glad you got out in the Ridgerunner! I might give the LMNT a try.

I haven't been out in a while, either. Don't beat yourself up. Sure, cramping isn't fun, but you accomplished everything you wanted to. That's awesome! Great video

I always guilt myself into not going for overnights. I should do them more. A short 10mi overnight. Good to see you have a hard go of it.. we see you crush miles with plenty of light left. To know it's not all rainbows helps me (us) thank you!!!

They certainly aren't all rainbows out there! I've had some tough days, on days that shouldn't have been that tough. It's crazy how they happen.

Looks great out there. I ended up going cheap and picked up some Boulder Salt. I wanted something I can use everyday and not break the bank. 113 servings for $16.

That's certainly much more affordable than most of the options out there, thanks for the tip!

It always amazed me how much “wilderness “ is so close to NYC. My kids got me skratch pwdr for hydration mix- tastes pretty good and seems to work well Welcome to getting older!

I used skratch quite a bit when I used to race bikes.

@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 You may also want to try some trails in the Pine Barrens (home of the New Jersey Devil) in S Jersey. Completely different than N Jersey, NY and Adirondacks- sections of the AT in CT (along the Housatonic R) are pretty- particularly w fall colors. Enjoy and good luck on your RTR

I do plan on getting down to the Pine Barrens. I actually had it planned for a weekend a little while back and it was on fire. Now I'm waiting a little bit for the burn smell to go away and maybe some of the underbrush to start to come in.

What cheapy drink mix didn't hold up for you? Ive tried some Propel (too sweet) and some LMNT (super salty, so i thinned it some) on the trail, and some bottles of an electrolyte drink similar to adult pedialyte (but better taste) back at the cooler in the car. Ive had some recent issues with blood pressure and feeling funny after rugged long miles on trail that i started doing the electolytes and its helped. Agreed, some folks are paid sponsors so theyre going to talk a big game about whatever theyre peddling. Ive been throwing in things like avocados and doritos to my meal plan to help as well. It sucks when you get a day where youre feeling off after hiking. Happens to the best of us sometimes. Stay healthy out there.

It was some no name stuff I got off amazon. Looking back on the box it was pretty much sugar free kool-aid, so zero electrolyte value at all. Liquid IV has done good for me, so that’s what I’ll use for now!

I can say from personal experience LMNT is great. I’m not sponsored. I also have a genetic condition that my body waste electorates. I like the performance of liquid IV and LMNT but I like the more salty taste of LMNT
