Its interesting that Sam flew onto the wooden stand instead of the perch when he first came up to it. Then he turned around and carefully walked onto the perch. He knew what to do, but one day he'll learn to just fly directly onto the perch!

That was good Sam really understood he needed to re stand on the perch to open the trap doors. You must like wood work good inventions.

Glad that came across on film, he really does seem to understand that he needs to push down on the lever to get those doors open. You can virtually hear him saying "Grrrrr" when it doesn't work properly first time hahaha! We have tried this toy with one of our Tawny owls .... but as the perch is weighted for Sam poor old Pebbles just wasn't heavy enough to make it budge. Gary was a carpenter and joiner before he gave it up for the birds, so now mostly due to lock down, he is combining what he is good at with what he loves ... bonus I guess!
