Well said sir! One of the points that he was trying to make was that because we live in a secular culture that constantly denigrates marriage and the procreation of children as a life path, the MOST important role these Catholic women AND men will play in the future is to honor each other in their marriages and prioritize the raising of their children TOGETHER (mirroring Christ’s sacrificial love for us) so that the raising of their children isn’t being outsourced to an increasingly warped and spiritually empty secular world. 🤔 I didn’t disagree with the spirit of the point he was trying to make, and the knee jerk regurgitated outrage that we’re seeing here and elsewhere only strengthens and reinforces most of the ACTUAL points that he was trying to make in his speech. In this speech I heard a man who was HONORING his wife by ELEVATING her CHOICES to prioritize her family above everything else. The hand that rocks the cradle will rule the world. 🤷🏻♀️ He didn’t say anything “wrong” if you consider that these young men and women actively CHOSE to go to a Catholic college to pursue a faith based education rather than an education steeped in the secular ideology and chaos of the current culture. 🤔 I’m happy that the young lady who made this video rant is getting some of the attention she was craving, but it’s unfortunate that she really isn’t interested in “engaging” in any sort of interesting or nuanced discussion about how different types people with different backgrounds are CHOOSING to prioritize different things in their lives than she might be inclined to. 🤔🤣

I’m a 26 year old Christian woman and I found this speech very beautiful. I’ve known since I was a little girl that the most important thing to me was to have a good marriage and have children. My husband and i are currently struggling to conceive and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced. I am thankful for my job but it will always be a means of supporting my family to me, not about fulfilling some higher purpose for myself. I hope more than anything that if we do conceive children that we can afford for me to stay home. I will be so heartbroken and depressed if I have to be separated from my baby for 10 hours everyday. And most women, conservative or liberal, feel the exact same way. Many women in the west have no choice but to work due to our economic circumstances. I used to be an atheist and even at one point told myself that my desire for children was selfish because humans are a drain on the earths resources. This speech was the complete opposite of misogyny. Allowing women to fulfill their most primal and deep desires is such a freedom that many women don’t have access to, unfortunately. God bless you.
@RebeccaMeyer895 ай бұрын

@@RebeccaMeyer89I agree and I don’t think he said anything about taking women’s choices away from them. He is saying that the most important vocation for women is not outside of the home but inside of the home. You may have a differing opinion and that’s okay, but he’s not saying anything about taking away your freedoms. Hes just saying hey I think x is better than y. As a side note, many women feel as if their choice to stay home has been taken away from them due to many social, political and economic factors. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
@RebeccaMeyer895 ай бұрын
@lyssadobbins7209 Their choice to stay home has been taken away by capitalism because wages haven’t kept up with the skyrocketing cost of living. He diminished women who have ambitions outside of becoming moms and wives. Some women don’t want to be either of those things, and that should be celebrated, not diminished and demeaned by misogynists like Travis Kelce’s teammate.
@lyssadobbins72095 ай бұрын
I am not hearing the things that you heard from him. He simply lifted up the women who want to be homemakers and encouraged them in that endeavor. And capitalism is certainly not the reason that families can no longer live on one income. It is leftist policies that have robbed the working class in this country. And again, I certainly believe that everyone should have the freedom to marry/not marry but I don’t see what there is to celebrate about being childless, and that is my opinion. I can’t fathom anyone believing that this man is a misogynist. It’s not everyday that you see a man brought to tears over the love and appreciation he has for his wife. I thought he was much more critical of Biden, priests who aren't focused on the teachings of his religion, the LGBT community, pre-marital sex (for both men and women), diversity, Covid mandates, and abortion than women in the workforce. Yes, he claims the most important and role for women is child care and uses his wife as an example. But he also claims the number one responsibility of men, as well as himself, is raising children in a religious household. So, in his view the most important responsibility of both parents is raising children together. Given his views on other topics, I'm surprised about all the attention narrowing down to women in the workforce when he never comes out against it, but mainly believes the most fulfilling role is that of mother.

My mom has a bunch of degrees and many other women I know are very accomplished as well. They just know their family is priority over some desk job. He also said she keeps him with his priorities straight as well and he is husband and father first, football player second. Anyone can have a career, it’s not very impressive, sorry. Being an amazing spouse and parent is far more impressive and requires more of you. Are you married with children? Or just jealous some woman was being praised and honored publicly by her spouse for a lifestyle *you* consider inferior? Because that’s just insulting lmao.

Read the title and came for the comments. Gold! Stay in his lane? He's a devout catholic asked to speak at a catholic graduation. How much more in-lane should it be? I'll guess you have a day job outside this channel, should you not be able to speak your mind in this separate space because you're employed elsewhere? Hey becca i watched your video twice now (your welcome) and yeah you do use a lot of divisive language such as, bigot, homophobe, misogynist, douchebag, etc. These words if used improperly will make people upset and unwilling to engage with you and have nuanced conversations, and the words themselves will lose their value. Someone who disagrees with you is not immediately a misogynist. How are we supposed to fix some of the problems in society when we cant talk without name calling? We need to work to understand each other becca ❤.
@RebeccaMeyer895 ай бұрын
It's important to call out bigotry when we see it because bigotry of all kinds is unacceptable. I have a new video coming out soon on more of the Harrison Butker drama, so look out for that!

@@RebeccaMeyer89 word becca i agree and i subscribed. From his speech I do not believe that he is a bigot, and I don’t think it would be fair to label me a bigot for thinking that. Sure he thinks differently than you but his intentions are likely the same as yours, to make the world a better place for everyone, not just Caucasian males. I do not believe his intention is to oppress and spread hate and i think maybe taking a more understanding approach is more likely to sway peoples thinking instead of inciting a knee jerk reaction from what might be an unfair judgment of their character.
