@@ohio Alec Guinness only disliked Star Wars once people forgot that he was in tons of other stuff. I don't think Harrison Ford has ever disliked Star Wars. He's always said that Star Wars is what allowed him to finally have steady work as an actor. But he will always enjoy Indiana Jones more because he is "the" star of that franchise. And despite the injuries he's sustained making the films, they were fun to make. I think it's more accurate to say that he just never felt the same connection to Star Wars that others did, and just relates to Indy more. I mean, I remember him in 2008 having a ball promoting Crystal Skull. He even went out and bought some of the toys and merchandise that they did for the film, and seemed thrilled that he was getting a new hat, too....since the originals were in the Smithsonian and the original designer had retired, they had to enlist a new guy. He just loves this character. He probably never felt the same connection to Han Solo.

caomhan84 So in other words, his fucking huge ego about having his name first in the credits is why he like Indy more?!? What an ungrateful son of a bitch! When Indy 5 comes out I won’t be going anywhere near it!

@@kotobukiya70 ungrateful sonbof a bitch? Nah. Just a guy very grateful for Star Wars to be the transition to being a steady working actor. He's always said that. He's just never loved it. And that's okay. Considering he was never meant to be in Indiana Jones in the first place, but luck meant that he was, and it made him a huge star....I don't blame him. Sometimes you just enjoy certain things more than others. What's wrong with that?

@@ohio "It's ironic that the people who actually make the movies couldn't care less about the movies they are in." I don't think that is ironic at all. It's just a matter of perspective. Beina passsive recipent, the audience, a fan, of movies is a completely different experience than working on them. Watching a movie takes two hours. Shooting a 2 minute scene can take half a week. And then you move on. You concentrate on your next project. That is something that many fans simply don't seem to grasp.
@calebbradford79064 жыл бұрын
@@kotobukiya70 Calm the actual fuck down. He just likes Indy more than Han Solo as a character. Sure the fact that the paycheck was bigger is probably another reason he enjoyed it more but most actors would prefer the role with the bigger paycheck. It's nothing about their ego. It's their job. Harrison Ford always seems to light up whenever he talks about playing Indy.. Han Solo, not so much lol. But one thing I can always say about Harrison is that he's a damn great actor and a consummate professional in his craft with an understanding that this is his job and he gets paid a lot of money to do it well. Going into The Force Awakens and knowing how indifferent Ford is about the character, all I wanted was for him to go out there and make me believe that he's Han Solo again and not Harrison Ford going through the motions and mailing in a big payday like I've seen certain other actors do in high profile roles , and he did just that. He sold me on the character 100% and I have that much more respect for him for respecting the craft and at least acknowledging how important it was to the fans through his performance. A great talent and a pro at what he does.

Unless I’m mistaken, while Harrison has had his long list of grievances with Star Wars publicly for years, to the best of my knowledge, those problems never involved any of his coworkers. Even with George Lucas I don’t think he’s ever really badmouthed him aside from correctly pointing out that writing is not Lucas’ strongest suit. I just feel like Harrison is more reserved and keeps his cards close to his chest while Mark and Carrie are and were more about putting themselves out there. I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, but Harrison did genuinely seem to light up when he heard Mark had “sent in” a question and I that’s very telling.

It's a shame that Harrison Ford didn't learn from Mark Hamill how to be a friend of the Star Wars fans. Whether he likes that movie trilogy or not, it gave him most of the fame he currently has by opening doors. I know the story of that iconic line, but several generations in the past 40 years don't. So Harrison could have told the real story rather than looking bothered and irritated by being asked yet again. Mark Hamill has told the same stories a gazillion times and he ALWAYS does with energy because he knows this is likely the first time SOMEONE has heard the story.

I don't understand his dislike of Han Solo yet he loves Indy. I think they are actually similar characters, aside from the fact that both are played by Ford.

@Degree7 That's kinda selfish on his part tbh. Still my favorite character tho. I don't count the Disney abominations to be Canon anyway. Just a bad dream.

In terms of "cool" ... one redeeming quality of the new movies is that, while Han Solo oozed "cool" in the original movies, Luke Skywalker got to be "cool" in the newer movies. Brushing dust from his shoulder after the laser blasts, and some great lines. Great stuff right there.

I love how Mr. Ford thinks he has to explain who George Lucas is when he says George.

I don't know what he did but HF looks great for his age. I guess he's getting ready to play Indy again.

Haha he´s so sick of anything related to star wars

He pretty much has been since 1980. He only agreed to come back for ROTJ if they killed Han off, Lucas refused despite it being in early scripts. Ford held a grudge over this for a while. He only came back for TFA to finally see Han killed off. Ford though was 100% right. Han dying in ROTJ would've made it better but Lucas had toys to sell as Ford said and Lucas said the good guys can't die, it's a fairytale.

He totally is but I get where he is coming from. It’s like “I wanna talk about my new movie not something i did 40 years ago.”

when Indy was young and wanted to explore with his father, he found a whip and went to swing the whip out.. and it caught his chin.. that may have been part 2 or 3.. that was the excuse of his scar on the chin...

This is why George needed other people around him who were willing to push alternative ideas.

In case anyone is interested, the original scripted scene went like this. Leia: I love you. Han: Just remember that. Because I'll be back. Some people have speculated that he wanted to change it because he was not keen on making the third film and as scripted, his line was kind of promising the audience that he would return. I have no idea if that is true or not.

Hue Owen That isn’t true at all. The original line was “I love you too” and Harrison felt it wasn’t “Han Solo” enough. The process of filming the scene is explained in J.W. Rinzler’s book “The Making of The Empire Strikes Back”.

@@EchoDissolve Dang man, you're going to make me work for this. The part I did not know if it was true was only Ford's motivation for changing the script. The rest I was fairly certain of, but I checked my source just to be sure. In 1980, I bought a book called Once Upon A Galaxy: The Making Of The Empire Strikes Back by Alan Arnold. Cost me $2.75. It now sales on eBay for up to several hundred dollars. It is that good. Arnold was on the set nearly everyday of filming, including the Hoth scenes that were shot in Norway and in London where the bulk of principal photography took place. On the day the carbon freezing scene was shot, the film's director Irvin Kershner agreed to wear a mike and record everything that he went through on that day. As it turned out, Harrison Ford was not happy with the dialogue and he met with Kershner in his trailer to discuss it. This is a small excerpt of their conversation. HF: As I pass by her, I think Leia should say very simply "I love you." IK: (Tries it out) "I love you.", And you say "Just remember that Leia, because I'll be back." You've got to say "I'll be back." You must. It's almost contractual! HF: If she says "I love you." and I say "I know." that's beautiful and acceptable and funny. IK: Right, right... It appears on page 139 of the book. If you don't own a copy of it and you don't want to spend the eBay price for it, there is a copy of it on the Internet Archive. Have a lovely day.

Hue Owen Respect to the work you put in. That said, I think we’re both right, because in an interview on starwars.com, Irvin Kershner clearly states that “the line written in the script was, ‘I love you too’”. Source: www.starwars.com/news/interviewing-kershner-a-conversation-with-the-director-of-the-empire-strikes-back So it appears likely that the on-set audio is probably correct, but it’s odd that Kershner simplified the story in later years to such an extent.

@@EchoDissolve Well played. You stood your ground. You documented your source, and you offered a plausible explanation. Plus you never once insulted my intelligence, my physical appearance, or my mother's lack of virtue. You are a rare and honorable Star Wars fan. The force is strong in you. Haha.

Hue Owen The way I see it, we’re all on the same team. There’s enough toxicity in the world. Props to you also for your fair and reasoned discourse.
