This brought a tear to my eye. I was born with my aorta and pulmonary artery attached to the wrong heart chambers, but due to the ductus arteriosus my oxygen lvls at birth were perfectly fine. as the ductus started to close my oxygen levels went down, eventually going down to 25-30% instead of the usual 99 and i needed an emergency surgery. however my heart hadnt been pumping around the usual amount of blood volume so it wasnt strong enough to undergo the switch of arteries right away and an elastic band was placed around the aorta to strengthen the heart muscles. I was 7 weeks old at the time. my aorta and pulmonary artery were eventually switched 10 days later and another surgery occured to realign my aorta, resulting in a scar on the chest and two on the back. i'm proud of these scars, it shows the incredible strength i've displayed as a baby, just as your son has. I'm sure he'll grow to be a wonderful boy and a strong man, with the heart of a lion. I wish your family and Harrison all the best, and just know that he is not alone!

This has to be the best thing about medicine and technology progressing. We can give people chances that wouldn't have had one a few decades ago. Much love to everyone involved and especially to Harrison for being a fighter and the doctors that gave all they had during the surgeries ❤️

Thanks Esmeralda. Harrison is now nearly 4 and a half. He is doing amazing. His heart is doing so well that he comes running with me, not just a short distance either but 5km (3 miles)! Harri has a great laugh and loves playing jokes. We have been very lucky. We still get yearly checks for his heart, but for now it is stable. Thanks for your lovely words.
