I've had the opportunity to visit their factory in Le Locle, Switzerland. Quick correction: they don't send their movements to METAS, they have a dedicated METAS office in-house. They also have several robots making sure all watch movements surpass pre-COSC inspection to have as little rejection as possible. It really is an insanely smooth modern operation. It's a very nice watch, the latest monochrome Black Bay!

I’m on Watch Crunch. Many have purchased the BB54, BB58, and the Pelagos 39. I have seen more people buy this 41mm monochrome than any Tudor watch currently available. Almost every day, a few people get one. Huge success for Tudor. It’s not for me, yet I recognize the tremendous value and beautiful design of the watch.

I dislike the fat lugs on the sub. I like the bezel on it better, but prefer the aluminum insert on the BB. I like the missing crown guards. Over all, I vastly prefer the BB to the sub

A black Rolex sub no date is pretty lowkey aswell. The big problem is you see submariners everywhere. Both real and fake ones, it’s not a special watch at all, same with a speedmaster. Tudor’s seem to be more rare, I’ve still seen a lot of people wearing them. But not as much as a sub or speedmaster. So if you ever buy a Tudor watch, wear it with pride. They are reliable, durable and very accurate, subtle yet elegant. Tudor is what Rolex used to be!

Absolutely spot on video. If you want a Sub because YOU want it, a Tudor will not scratch that itch. If you want a Sub because you want OTHER people to know you have a Sub, a Tudor won’t do that. I think the latter is sad, but it’s humanity and who am I to judge. Get what you want at a price you can afford. If you can’t afford what you want, save until you can. And life is too damn short to worry if other people think you’re poor because you’re wearing a watch that doesn’t have a crown on it.

I just bought the Tudor BB monochrome a month ago and have worn it every day since. Fabulous watch and I would rather own it than a modern day sub. I own a 16610 sub, Tudor Ranger and the original Omega Aqua Terra. This Tudor is just terrific and not a compromise purchase. It is a great value, wears great and the 5 link bracelet is a contrast to the rest of the collection.

Just bought my Tudor Black Bay Monchrome 41 and absolutely Love it. I do not fell the slightest bit remorseful about the $6,000 I have leftover from not buying a Submariner, I tried to buy a Submariner and they wanted to play hard to get. I'm not going to wrestle you to take my money-give it to someone else...I needed a new Les Paul anyway.

When this was released there was absolutely no urge for me to want it at all because I already have the 41 submariner. I have also owned 6 different tudors and love tudor. What you said about the submariner being more like jewelry than merely a watch is spot on... However its the iconic tool watch that is built rugged and robust yet has that air of luxury that Rolex has perfected. The rolex itch for me didnt die after the sub. I ended up also getting the 40mm explorer and I am lusting hard for the two-tone silver and gold sub.

I own both and I can honestly say the Tudor is a great watch, but the fit and finish and overall quality of the Rolex is superior. With that said for the money the Tudor is a win!

Harrison you are so wrong about METAS first they test the cased up whole watch over two weeks in six different angles and a whole other lot of tests were as the usual test done too standed BB and Rolex,they only test the movement uncased, the METAS testing is way more in-depth than cost testing

To me, this is the true successor of the 14060M. The 124060 is now a luxury tool watch, I couldn't really see myself wearing it and enjoying it with complete carelessness and disregard for possible dings as I would with the Tudor. I'm sure I would tend to baby it and worry about it a little too much. That's completely the opposite of enjoying a watch.

If this was any other brand other than Tudor then this watch would have been brushed aside as a Submariner homage. You’re right, anyone who wants a Rolex in their heart who buys this won’t be satisfied. Most of us have been there and you end up buying the Rolex in the end. There seems to be a stigma about admitting to liking Rolex. I love Rolex, and for me nothing else so far compares to Rolex at around the 10k and under mark. It’s all about how it makes YOU feel wearing your watch, and Rolex has always made me feel great!

If you have your heart set on something then an alternative will often not fill the void long term. In your case you have Subs already so a Tudor is not filling the void. For someone else without one Sub (let alone 4) is potentially filling a void if they really do what that Rolex. If done it with watches, cars, tech, clothes, shoes etc. buy an alternative instead for whatever reason and eventually that original thing you truly wanted will come back into your mind. It’s just how most (maybe not you) people’s minds work.

Tudor has been making the Submariner since the 50s, so they can and do tap into that history since Rolex doesn't. Saying Tudor is a "wanna be Rolex" is just ignorance, especially now a days. If I want a Rolex I'll buy a Rolex. If I want a Omega I'll buy an Omega, and if I want a Tudor I'll buy a Tudor. All of these are affordable if you make a decent salary, and a couple grand one way or another doesn't make much of a difference.

Black bay monochrome is stunning, but the sub is even better. That’s why I didn’t get it. 0:30 But Tudor’s price is unmatched. Bought the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT, I really vintage get vibes from it. Gloss burgundy/black bezel with gilt accents. Looks absolutely stunning in person, much better than in photos and videos!

Just got the BB41 Burgundy and opted for the 3 links strap, for me it’s not a super flashy watch, just looks a good size on the wrist and well made. The jubilee style bracelets don’t suit the watch in my opinion. 👍

If they made two updates - it would be a slam dunk for Tudor ... change Tudor to 904L steel (looks bettter) and add a ceramic bezel. The cost of those changes would probably be less than $100.

If we focus on price and alternative, Tudor BB is still way expensive. We have Seiko, Casio, and Swatch. All these are well designed and can accurately tell time at crazily lower price. But if we are talking about brand level, luxury, and assets that can store value in longer term or even deliver profits, Rolex is Rolex. I mean if you want a watch cheaper than Rolex, many choices out there. But if you want a Rolex, there is no alternatives. And don't get me wrong, I also own a Tudor and I don't compare it to Rolex. Tudor is Tudor. Tudor is great in its own way.

Tudor is really expensive. They are just cheaper then Rolex, they pull each other. You can get a Mido for 1k so a Tudor for 4-5k is not cheap at all. Still they have their good position in the market it seems.

No, it’s not a submariner. It’s not a bad watch at all! But it’s too thick, 60 click bezel and a great but not quite Oyster level bracelet. I felt my 124060 was a bit too flashy at times and if I were to wear a diver everyday, this may be it. The Jubilee bracelet is interesting though!

This is a beautiful watch, and it is very similar to the Submariner in looks, but it’s a Tudor and a Rolex is a Rolex. Buy what you like, if it’s a submariner you want just wait a little longer and save because this watch will not satisfy that itch! And you’ll end up wanting the submariner anyhow and loose money on this watch when you decide to sell it to fund the Submariner.

Tudor is a brand rolex uses to try and test new things they are working on, rather than testing it with the more expesive brand,where the rist is alot higher if it fails. Tudor is also the only company that offers a watch cased in sterling silver.

No it's not. Tudor is operating seperately under the Rolex umbrella. Rolex is not involved in their daily operations. They do benefit from production line techniques coming from Rolex, but other than that, they run things on their own.

To each his/her own. I've had my BB Monochrome on a 3-link bracelet and love it enough that I've sold my Submariner 124060. The Sub was always a little "off" for me. Too much bling with the ceramic bezel. This watch is just the right amount of subdued for me and the T-clasp is game changing (spoiled by the Rolex Glide Lock). Stop by your local AD and see what you think. For me, I just put $4500 USD in my pocket ;)

The P39 has noticeable shorter L2L than the BB58, so in my opinion the P39 is way of the feel of the Sub. Feels more in between the 58 and the 54. The BB41 and the Sub have both 40,5mm bezels. Feels very alike on wrist. The Black Bay 41 is not lighter than the Sub, it’s slightly heavier, at least when both are on oyster.

Going to travel in France or Italy? Don't take a Rolex... At least I'm not. And it's not the money I care. Sure, losing 10k sucks. But you then have to go grey to get one again quickly and thus pay more. Not forgetting that the part that it's taken from you might be highly unpleasant

This watch wonders heavily into homage territory. It then looks expensive when viewed in that light. Subs are widely available, near MSRP. The modern sub is a beautiful watch, and the 20 year old 14060m watch can give old vibes with a modern movement, 40mm case, and they are going for only a 2k more than the Tudor. A 20 year old sub will also likely hold its value better.

I honestly see the P39 as more versatile since I can throw it on a nato and take it on holiday trips without is grabbing too much attention. It's just the perfect do it all watch, to me :). When it comes down to the Black bay Monochrome I would be too conscious about al the glitter and glammer, but heck, what a beautiful watch that is! Have a good one!

I don’t think anyone has actually said that about metas on KZbin, well done. It’s especially ridiculous when they use the same movement. I agree with a lot off what you said but was surprised about your description about the size. Until It comes with a date function I can’t get excited. The main thing I disagree about is shiny bits adding interest. It adds something but for me it’s not a positive but that’s a taste thing and we are all different. That said if I bought one I might ask someone for a jubilee bracelet for Christmas so I could swap from the oyster one and experience the bling.

Haha you can discuss this forever. The Rolex Submariner and the Tudor Submariner had the same design in the 1950s, since the 1960/70s their design went on different paths. Nowadays the former Tudor Submariner developed to Tudor Black Bay and Pelagos. They are simply in different price categories positioned brands, like Swatch does it with e.g. Longines and Omega.

@@taham33 factss , i honestly don’t get the concept of wanting an aluminium bezel just because it ages and fades with time and that they want to wear a watch in the future which looks aged lol . I want my watches to look top class and brand spanking new for years to come , ceramic bezels are the way to go!

The lug to lug on the bb41 is visibly larger and also reported in other reviews as 50mm so do check the dimensions again cuz its most likely wrong

It’s reported as 50 but it is actually 49mm so guess 48.5 might be close enough. It’s also sold as 41 but it is 40.5. Tudor basically rounds up.

The 41 probably or 58 wear very well. They all wear well to be honest so it’s sort of a preference of dial size and real estate on your wrist

Tudors are a stellar bargain, but this one to me is too much of a sub. If you want the icon that is the sub then this won’t scratch the itch. I like the 58 and 54 because they have vintage aesthetic and proportions the sub doesn’t. The Pelagos has its own more spartan tool watch flair that’s interesting. This feels like seeing a tribute band instead of the real thing. It’s a cool watch on its own, love the bracelet and the price and not having to put up with Rolex dealership shenanigans but this release just leaves me a bit cold

Tudor watches exceptional, You can't seriously compare The two, Rolex has its lane £6000 upwards. Tudor also has its lane £1500 - £5000 i think. None of the two brands are cheap Tudor has a solid movement and build quality. Everyone has there budget, you can turn up with your batman on and we no there's people out there who would buy that not for them but for there wife to wear. Different levels

Thank you for the content. A sub will always be a sub and nothing will substitute. The monochrome is excellent in its own right along with many other Tudor divers but for me the Omega Seamaster comes the closest.

I disagree. The Seamaster is a nice watch, but apart from the indices and the fact that they both have a bezel, the two watches have nothing in common. Its a completely different design language.

I wear my Seamaster Railmaster, with denim dial, on a $15 blue NATO strap, it's perfection dressed down, nobody who isn't interested in watches even notices it. 😂

Tudor is not me, as for Rolex Sub, yes but it’s a 1967 5513. I cant do anything with a modern one.

How is the Tudor not a submariner, when it’s literally the 1953 Rolex submariner with a duller dial and bezel? It runs Master Chronometer which is better than COSC. It just doesn’t go as deep to 1000ft. Same watch.
