So cool to see the development of 7.3L heads. Considering it’s only a couple years old and the fact that LS is still moving forward is amazing.

The lt and l8t are completely different to the ls as they have a flatplane crank and overhead cams
@griffinfaulkner35142 жыл бұрын
@@captain1334 Only the LT6, which is specific to the C8 Z06, has overhead cams and a flat plane crank. The rest of the modern LT series uses a standard crossplane crank and cam-in-block design, just with direct injection instead of port injection.

Seems like an easy competition. 6.6 is better factory but 7.3 wins because they don’t lock their computers tighter than military classified systems.

The cylinder head shootout was for cathedral port LS heads, and Mast brought an LS3 head. It had the largest valves and highest flow, but only made 10 hp more than the Dart heads. You don't need more than 2.05" valves on a 402...

We may have to talk soon. Oh and just saying.. I get what all goes into a blower kit... trust me. Plus when you all take them to the nexus levels it wasn't cheap. It would be nice if the entry level wasn't like it is for someone who is basically making a heela fun daily/toy and don't have it like others. This is the safest way to not window blocks etc and some of us just want a small shot for the big end on the weekends every once in a while. Yeah.

Godzilla is Nissan, not Ford. Can't call a 7.3 Godzilla, when Dodge had the 8.3 + 8.0 for decades
@geoffmooregm2 жыл бұрын
Well that's the name of their motor. Don't think they will change it now. Cadillac had an 8.2L (500 ci) way back in 1970 which I think is still the largest V8 ever produced for a passenger car or light truck. Chevrolet came close when the 8.1L (496ci) was introduced. Actually GM and Ford have both made V8's larger than the current 7.3L before so it is really nothing special as far as displacement is concerned.

Why in the world would I want to pay the outrageous amount of money and your R&D products when I can get a junkyard 5.3 engine put some Forge Cheapo pistons in ring Gap it Chinese head studs and crank up the Boost and produce a thousand plus horsepower anybody want to shed some light on that?
@Naoj20242 жыл бұрын
Maybe reliably..! I get your point, but your probably not going to drop that junk yard 5.3 into a hotrod that will compete on the world stage for looks , power and reliability… Just sayin…🏁🤔😎
@mannyr.27562 жыл бұрын
@@Naoj2024 I beg to differ making it pleasing to the eyes it's not difficult to do, and these so-called high-end engines at those outrageous monies that they ask for them can't guarantee you that it won't blow up and well if it does it's never anything they did it's always the end user.
@weldmachine2 жыл бұрын
I do see your point about Dollars vs Power. It's true to say a $3000 engine has just as much chance of self-destructing as a $30,000 engine. It is surprising to see how much money you Need to spend to gain that extra 10% gain in power. As you try to gain more power, it becomes more and more expensive as you reach the maximum limit of any engine. This can be noticed the most when it comes to Porting Cylinder Heads. $1000 Port Job 14% gain $2000 Port Job 19% gain I guess the choices you have, comes down to 2 things ?? How big is your Wallet and how big is your Ego ??
@mannyr.27562 жыл бұрын
@@weldmachine Mr I agree with you well said, may I add that a lot of engine failures are due to poor tuning or pushing the envelope.
@Deerhunter2024 Жыл бұрын
Because they do way more than just change pistons and add boost.... Porting the heads. Oversizing the valves. Milling the head to 100% flat to handle the pressures. The average person wouldn't be able to build this from scratch. I'm sure you could build it by buying these things already done like ported heads from jegs. Anyway there's no way you get to 1000hp by changing pistons and adding boost alone. You are paying for the research and time spent perfecting this more than the actual product.
