As ever Darren another fantastic light hearted review, since getting the mission repointing tool I certainly have experimented with many different points. At the mo I'm using 41mm target points.

These are going to be amazing. I have to have the ridge surely they will the toughest and the easiest on the board and flight other then smooth.edit have to get the lance too.

I got apex points they look even better but note the apex smooth has a smaller dia flange(3.2) and wont cover all but the best machined darts forget most unicorn and earlier harrows(i've not bought any modern harrows). The others are about 3.6mm same as the targets and wont cover the ends of these darts either but will do the finner machined darts like target. Its really unacceptable leaving huge sharp corners like my new toru suzuki unicorn darts that still slice up the flights with target storm points. Only stock points with tridents will work without modification. Most my designer darts i've checked including a pair of dc darts are well covered.I just wont use my favorite cosmo flights with what I call hungry darts.

I had the apex sabre 30mm points in and one point hit the board wire and broke in the barrel never using them again

Thats unlucky, still using my set and had bounce outs onto a hard floor and they are still in one piece. But its why I have always been a little wary of points with built in nose cones like the Target Storms, so many people had those break in the darts it put me off, not sure how many may have had same problem with the Apex but think you are the first I have heard mention it. I think the Voks Tornado are probably the strongest of all the ones with built in nose cones though, only problem with them is they dont fit so well in some barrels so need a bit of fiddling to fit right.

Hi Darren just been looking at this Harrows points review and will probably get some. Did you manage to get the broken point out the barrel or not bother because it was an old set if you did ,how🤔 hope you enjoying your rest and hopefully healing that elbow 👍

You know, I recently broke a swiss point but it was mostly my fault. My throw went past the dart surround and landed on the wood floor of my kitchen. There was a slapping sound and it snapped. But I really don't think tips break under normal circumstances. World wide darts did a tip replacement on a Target Bolide barrel. He put an conventional tip on it. I'm considering doing that as I don't think the trident nose cones are as good as having a true seamless cone. My question would be if jamming a tip in there is a one time thing. Secondly, do you find that the wavy shape of these tips prevent penetration or hurt the boards?

no idea what he done as I dont watch that p3do, but I would imagine if you force a point into the Swiss barrels and it damages the inside part then its probably no longer any good for swiss points. I have used the Harrows Apex on a set for months now, had no trouble with them so far except for the silvery finish wearing off.

@@DartsReviewChannel Thanks for the reply. I'm debating of whether I should get the lighter soft-tip version and use the Harrows 2ba conversion point instead of doing something experimental on the Bolide Steel tip. I'd be going three grams lighter.

I forgot all about it, not sure where I put the points now as I took them out of the darts but will try to get them found, I have been putting all my stuff in boxes as I am hoping to sort everything out but its taking longer than I thought lol

I think these points are better than a storm point from Target because the storm points are expensive like 12 quid.

I will be sticking to my old faithful target diamond pro points from now on I had fitted a set of the apex smooth points had to change them within a fortnight due to a bounce out which bent one of the points which were on a set of harrows paragons

These are not that bad as the groove at the front is smoothed off so it sticks but not ripping the fibres out like on some.

@@liamu8182 I think all the laser etched points can cause damage for the first use, but usually wear fairly soon so not so bad when they do. The points that have deep grooves near the nose or a weird shape like the RD Rapter probably cause the most damage. Then there is some special points like Whitlocks allen keys or the ones made from diamond files that totally wreck the boards.

Good advice from me, stick to the original points, these fancy points can easily break during a party of darts when they fall to the ground, and you really don't get any better.

I have never been a fan of grip points for various reasons but lots of people love them so at least Harrows are making a point that seems a little stronger than others.

@@DartsReviewChannel One of my target 90 sport dart (26 grams) was destroyed by a gas burner to get the broken point out, was a target point, smooth, with a collar, the points do not break at the ridges but in the barrel, the hammer test showed it already.

Yeah I think that's always going to be the problem, its a thick part followed by a thin part which is basically clamped inside the barrel, but I don't think its going to experience the same force during normal conditions as it was with me hitting it with a hammer. I know it happens with Target storm points but these Apex points seem stronger but we will have to wait and see :)
