@@schwartzy65 you're wrong. Snape was torn between his master's whims (Voldemort) and his allegiance to Hogwarts and love for Lilly Potter. WHY?? because he's just (and still is) a young soul who has known humiliation and power all his life, but never love. Heath's joker is a strategic genius turned serial killer/terrorist. WHY?? ... nobody knows. So yes, you're wrong. Snape and McGonagall are my absolute favourites in the HP world, but you're wrong because they've been well developed (UNLIKE heath's joker, who BEGS to have many questions about his past answered). It's funny cause I never actually hated him! I always thought he was a interesting looking character with a unknown story that reveald itself more in every part of the movie. But first I thought he was really on Voldmort his side so he could get to Harry but it was nothing like that. And I have seen a lot of movies with sad endings. But nothing prepared me for Snape and his secret love for Lily and then still looking after her son while Harry reminds him of James, the man that made Snape his life a living hel. Thats why they always stated Harry has his mothers eyes. His mother was the good and strong one. His father actually a bully (and a swine) 😅😂

I always love that in retrospect, Harry looking like James but having Lily's eyes is meant to showcase that conflict Snape has in terms of how he treats Harry. From afar, the kid looks like the man who made his life a living hell for years. But face to face, eye to eye, he sees Lily. Snape knows it's not fair to treat Harry the way he does, and is reminded every time they lock eyes.

@@JabamiLain Actually no. Lily fell in love with James the moment she saw him but because he hated his best friend, Snape, she needed an excuse to throw Snape out of her life if she wanted to be with the person she loved. So, she used this "mudblood" as an excuse to completely cut ties with him. Sometimes we say things we don't mean in a fit of anger and he did apologize, tried his best to be forgiven, so, if she really was the angel she was portrayed as, she would have understood that and forgave him after he apologized.

@Ra lee Snape was a complex character, yes he showed animosity towards Harry, but only because Harry looks almost exactly like James Potter, but... Snape also can't help but look at Harry like a son he and Lily would've had if James wasn't in the picture, and while I think the Jame's lookalike played a small role in his animosity, I also believe that Snape felt that Harry was spoiled, and needed someone that didn't just fawn over them, simply because he is the "boy who lived" Snape is a good character, well written and someone, readers, as they grow older could emphasize with.

Nope, Snape hated Harry to the very end. “But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” “For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape.

@@VR-xk9wySnape did care for Harry in his own way. He is a nuch more complex character than you're making it out to be. 1) Harry resembles the look of his father, James Potter, who relentlessly bullied Snape as a kid and married Snape's love, Lily. Of course Snape feels bitter whenever he sees Harry. 2) Harry also acts like his father, breaking the rules constantly and antagonizing Snape whenever he can. 3) Snape is a Slytherin and Harry is a Gryffindor. They're naturally rivals. But Snape has constantly shown that he cared for Harry's safety and wellbeing. 1) He counteracted Quirrell's curse when Quirrell tried to kill Harry during a Quidditch game 2) Snape shielded Harry when Professor Lupin turned into a werewolf and tried to kill him 3) Snape was against and even offended by Dumbledore's plan to kill Harry in order to defeat Voldemort He might not care for Harry affectionately, but he cares for Harry's safety. Harry is all that Snape has left to remind him of Lily, after all. His last request was that Harry look at him so that he could see Lilly's eyes one more time.

Because in the end, even it is sound bad, Snape is indeed the 2nd father he never known to have, not hagrid, not dumbledore, not even weasley's parent, Snape the only one strict enough to care for his wellbeing, prefering he does not take many dangerous and suicidal act, even if not being honest, he ready to teach harry hard magic to seal his mind from voldemort, for harry to reject it

Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified. “You have kept him alive so that he can die at the right moment?” “Don’t be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?” “Lately, only those whom I could not save,” said Snape. He stood up. “You have used me.” “Meaning?” “I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter--” “But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape.” ― J.K. I could feel a lump in my thought. When we saw the first movie, we assumed he was nothing but the potions' teacher at Hogwarts who didn't like Harry. But after his death, it was like Ginny died, or when Fred died. People think Snape's death was like a cry of celebration, but really, he was trying to protect Harry, and the only reason why he disagreed with Harry is because James Potter bullied Severus as a kid. Only a true hero like Snape deserves a cry. R.I.P Alan Rickman💗💗

One of the most emotional moments in any of the Harry Potter films. Brings tears every time. Can I just say how masterful the editors were with weaving Alexandre Desplat's score together with "Dumbledore's Farewell" by Nicholas Hooper from Half-Blood Prince? Once the music mourned for Dumbledore, and Snape was the villain. Now, we mourn Snape, and Dumbledore was the villain all along. If the scene alone doesn't bring tears, the heartbreaking score behind it will. Magnificent piece of film.

I don't think Severus ever hated Harry. He had to remain cold and distant to protect Harry. If he let his guard down, he would have foiled the plan to fool Voldemort, perhaps even so much as not being able to kill Dumbledore for it, knowing how much Harry looked up to the old Professor. As Malfoy was unable to do so, Voldemort would have stepped in and gained the full power of the Elder Wand. So much was at risk that Severus knew he had to hide behind a shell of cold emotion and convince the other Death Eaters that he was the right choice to stand against Dumbledore. It just wouldn't have looked right for him to show anything good towards Harry, no matter how much he would have wanted to take Lily's son under his wing and teach him.

2:11 this is the face of a man who is trying to suppress his anger after getting the biggest betrayal from someone he trusted so much.. Severus Snape could have shown harry only the part of his memory where he and dumbledore plans everything. But every part of his memory has essence of Lily. Sometimes it feels as if Severus wanted Harry to NOT hate him for what he did . He didn't wanted a PART of Harry that belongs to Lily to hate him for calling her that "word" , He wanted that part of Lily to know how much he loved her *"all this time"* , He wanted that part of Lily to know he would happily die for sake of her love even if that love belongs to someone else , Snape's love for Lily crossed boundaries to the point he protected her son with his life and soul the father of whom was his very own bully. He searched for Lily one last time in Harry's eyes and found her. His heart silent said "sorry" to her for last time for not being with her when she needed him the most . His love and his death was a proof of his undying love for her . Severus Snape you have our deepest respects /*

Dumbledore: "after all this time..." The meaning of this is deep. Snape was looking after, caring and protecting Harry as best as he could during the hole series. That was the extent of his love.
