The most epic, tear-jerking moment in film history... Oh, my gosh... after reading "The Prince's Tale" chapter for the first time in the book somewhere in August 2007, all I could think was "I can't WAIT to see that in the final film.". During the four-year wait period, I cannot describe in words how much I anticipated seeing Snape's memories on the big screen. I cried just thinking about it! I cried pretty hard seeing "Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince", and noticing all the subtle foreshadowings of Snape's innocence. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" stayed so true to the book, I felt more relaxed and confident that I wasn't going to be let down in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2". Let me tell you... after Snape says to Harry "You have your mother's eyes", I was a total goner. Even though that line wasn't in the book, it TOTALLY sets the mood for the upcoming revelation sequence... and it was then that it hit home for me. I was thinking: "This is it... I know I'm gonna cry like a baby and my nose is gonna run, but I'm ready. As if it wasn't epic enough... drawing out the preparation scene to a near-solid minute of total silence as Harry slowly walks into Dumbledore's office, takes out the pensieve, and pours the memories was a PURE stroke of genius. Man, that moment felt like it lasted for an eternity... when I first saw this at midnight. FAR more effective than in the book, where Harry rushes up to the office and does it quickly to "assuage his torturing grief", as Rowling describes. In the theater I was in, every single viewer in the audience was totally breathless... you could have heard a pin drop. I loved "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 so much, I saw it a total 7 times while it was in theaters. Truly the most epic and emotionally gripping movie I've ever seen.

The best written character in the entire saga... In the movies he went very unnoticed, except on a few occasions, but in the books he is much, much deeper and, without the need for the impact of the film's images, he really gives you It breaks inside to see that a character so apparently cold and superficial in his hatred, contains such great depth within.

it’s funny, when i was younger i liked him a lot because he always seemed like the black sheep, and i was so confused as to why he was so mysterious. i misunderstood his character as i got older, and up until recently, i didn’t like him. i’ve heard he’s not the same in the books, and it’s harder to empathize with him in regards to lily and his love for her. but as far as the movies go, this sealed the deal for me. snape is a beautifully written character, and definitely a favorite.
