GIRL!!!!!!!! GWOORRLLL!!!! I just finished book 6 TODAY. I'm about to start 7... I'm scared. The not being able to read anything else is SO real, I'm not usually a series girlie but I've literally been wanting to read nothing else since I started. At first I tried picking up different books in between but soon enough it was all abandoned mid-read to get back to Harry Potter. The chokehold is real. What a time to be alive. Reading HP for the first time. We'll never have this experience again, I love it here and I'll never be the same

When I read these books as a kid/teen, I hated how JK Rowling seemingly killed off some of our favorite characters FOR NO REASON. Then, after I had kids, I reread the series (to my daughter). She lost interest in the 4th book, because I might have started her too young. Anyway, I finished the series without her. And as an adult, I geuss as an older adult and parent. As a person who has lost people, parents, grand parents, friends in senseless ways, I get it now. The deaths feel senseleas but thats the point. Death is always senselss. And WAR is senseless. And grief spares no one. And you touched on this, but it all feels cruel. The fact that JK made you feel that through her fiction, means she wrote it WELL. That is death and loss. And how amazing is it that this story gave you such a real life feeling and experience? I have some issues with the Harry Potter series now, but I can't say Rowling doesn't have talent. Even though she has some big flaws too. In lots of ways from her writing in the series and her actions as a cultural icon and her management of her franchise, but all that is a rant for another day.

No this is true. To quote hamilton "death doesn't discriminate" and that truth, that grief, will never make sense.

I remember reading the final book when it came out I was in secondary school. It really got me into reading it was the first series I was obsessed with. My dad wasn’t very well at the time, he eventually died when I was 23. I found reading the series great escapism. Grief is a very interesting topic and I love how jk wrapped it up in the final book. Life is bitter sweet but still worth the ride. Our brief moment in the sun 💫❤

Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart. My eldest son and I would go get the newest book on release day and then when the movies came out we saw them in the theatre on opening day. I read each one of the books to him at night before bed and we had the best time with them. I'm happy to see how much you embraced the story and let yourself get into it. =)

I grew up with the story of Harry Potter, the first two books I read after watching the films, but from the third onwards, I felt the anxiety of reading the book and having to wait months for the film and the next book, and that was really an adventure , I remember the book Deathly Hallows, I got so excited that I was not able to wait for the book translated into Portuguese (my first language) to be released and to buy the book, so I downloaded a PDF in English and spent the night reading, then I went to school very sleepy, went home again and started reading again until morning, at that time I didn't have a notebook or tablet so I took the computer screen and put it on my lap to read, my English was horrible (not that it's good nowadays) but it was really cool, I ended up enjoying it to study English.

Hey Khalilah! On the ages you mentioned it's more likely that readers were Harry's age when the book came out as most of the series' readership grew up with the characters and I imagine parents today because of the themes of the latter books wouldn't let their 12\13 year olds read them at that age but will probably depend on the parent and/ or their child's emotional maturity? I could be wrong on that last bit though🙂
