a young male orphaned protaganist who for his own safety is sent to live with his aunt uncle until a mysterious bearded stranger who was actually the one who delivered him to his aunt and uncle when he was a baby comes into his life and starts to teach him about this ancient kind of magic then he's gonna learn a lot more about this magic from an older wiser dude whos high most of the time however his uncle is really against this magic stuff won't even tell him what actually happened to his parents but against his uncles wishes he leaves home for the first time, makes new friends and meets a pretty young impetous girl, and while their will be a non-sexual tension between the two of them he will only ever love her like a sister while she struggles with her love for his best friend the scruffy comic relief. and then he learns of this supervillain who killed his parents back in the day with his sorcerer ways before he got super evil and started calling himself lord something or the other, but fortunately it turns out our hero is naturally good at flying and locating incredibly small targets.

I’m not going to argue with you because that is a pretty valid point. But I do want to point out a major difference: the HP universe has both movies and books, while SW only has movies. I don’t know about you, but if I read a book that I absolutely love, if I found later that a movie is being made about it, I’m far more likely to want to go see that movie. And vice versa. If there’s a movie I watch and end up enjoying and find out later there’s a book series it’s based on (or in this case, since many people know what HP is, if they haven’t read the book but watch the movie and love it), I’m much more likely to go back and read the book after. So those sales do often go hand in hand in a way that Star Wars can’t because it was only ever a movie series. So there’s really no way to know for sure.

And the main antagonist is this all powerful white, sickly looking guy in a dark robe, who doesn’t show up fully until near the end, and most of his acts are carried out by his tall, dark enforcer with an iconic memorable voice, and the enforcer eventually sacrifices himself to go against his boss because he cares for the protagonist like a son.

It's called the "heroes journey concept" and it's one of the most common story arcs in all of fiction writing.. however some of the details outside of that arc that exist I'm Harry Potter and Star Wars are remarkably similar. Like Ron and Hermione compared to Han and Leia for instance

I feel like a lot of these similarities are outside the heroes journey concept because the heroes journey is vague enough to fit most stories involving becoming a hero while specific facts like being an orphan, left with their relatives for safety, meeting said person who brought them there, and even the "high wizard" joke are outside the vagueness of the journey concept yet are oddly similar in both stories. We could argue back and forth how it's because of the heroes journey why a lot of these plot points are similar but regardless I just think it's a little funny to point out the similarities between these stories just for a good laugh.

As a very big star wars fan I think it is so much better than Harry Potter. I always liked both of them but the Harry Potter fanboy are really annoyng. Let me go through your comment quickly. Star Wars's 6 movies alone made them over 30 BILLION DOLLARS and they are still developing more. That isn't including Star Wars's video games, toys, online games, comic books, novels, short films, cartoons, clothing merchandise, or costume merchandise. Harry Potter as a franchise, books and movies, is worth only 15 billion. Where did he say he liked one better? And what's to say Harry Potter didn't copy anything from Star Wars? From the two minutes of similarities that only covered the first two movies and the fact that Harry Potter even used Star Wars's award winning musician for their first three movies points towards it. At the end he was making fun of Star Wars creator, George Lucas, since he took the original movies and digitally edited everything he wanted changed into it. He used CGI and changed one of the characters who shot first. Also, if it wasn't about the money why would there be 9 Harry Potter movies when there are only 7 books? Why would her and everyone she works with be going around and banning unauthorized sequels that they get no money from? How about refusing to let people read her books before release dates? They didn't stop that until people protested their right to read. Star Wars goes after money like any other franchise turned empire, but I'm not gonna go around lying and pretend they aren't greedy.
