This video is hauntingly beautiful. Harry said that he wrote this album during some of the happiest and saddest times in his life. Clearly, this is the saddest. I feel like he bared his soul to us. I think the video reflects how sometimes when you're in intense pain emotionally, it can feel like you're drowning in sadness. You're drowning in your emotions and that's what I see here. I think the simplicity is important. Even the way that the camera gets so close to his face is important. It makes this so personal. You really feel like you are staring into that man's soul. It's powerful in its simplicity because of the naked emotions that it portrays and they're emotions that I think almost everyone can relate to. He's extraordinary. This video is brilliant. I am a bigger Harry Styles nerd than you are!

The piano represents Harry's feelings. At the beginning while he plays, the piano begins to overflow, as Harry feels like singing each part of the song. The water starts to fill the room and ends up submerging everything, exactly how harry felt. Ans that openning scene it's actually the end, when he got out of the water meaning that he now can deal with all those feelings
@PatrickSNassif4 жыл бұрын
Exactly what i thought. I felt the longer he held onto the piano the longer he was holding onto his emotions thus it starting to overflow, representing the overflow of his emotions. Then him beginning to let go of those emotions once he lets go of the piano. He starts to float instead of staying grounded by his "feelings" the piano.

Great reaction as usual. I love it that you GET Harry's artistic ability in music and film. Love the song and respect his ability to choose magnificent people to direct and capture his emotions on film in such artistic and classy ways. I hate that I felt HIS pain so much by watching it. No Harry fan ever wants to see him hurt in any way. I am a 65 year old protective grandmother type fan. No one should ever put Harry in a corner or hurt him. I like his honesty admitting he caused part of the problem in the relationship with drink and wondering hands. As usual, loved his taste in dress too. That dress blouse floated beautifully in the water. Keep up your amazing reactions Steven.

He has become very special to me and I’m happy to see another lady from my generation also appreciating what a gem he is ... his “mum” ANNE, must be so proud to call him her son🤧! I added Harry to my reply just in case he ever has the time to read about the impact he’s making on his older fans who don’t just want to jump his bones. LOL ... @ramonalouise27014 жыл бұрын
I just wanna comment my interpretation of the video after watching it (more than) a few times. The piano seems to represent his outlet, the thing that lets his emotions flow. Music. Music is Harry's escape, it always has been. The water represents his sadness/emotions. As the song goes on he gets more lost in his sadness and eventually feels like he's drowning in it (when he goes underwater). Harry is not fighting the emotion, he doesn't try to swim to the surface, he just let's it take him. Harry has always been one to feel his emotions to the fullest, the boys always used to say he cried the most out of all of them. Basically, harry is using his escape to let his emotions overtake him before he can be okay again (the beginning scene of the water draining). This is just my interpretation pls don't come for me lol but feel free to tell me your opinions :)

But, somehow, I came across the song, Sign of the Times and immediately fell in love. I, much like you, began falling down the rabbit hole of Harry Styles. Now, he is my favorite artist of all time (equal to my all time favorite band, Incubus). I connect with Harry’s music on such a deep, almost spiritual like level. And it’s truly refreshing when someone creates content on KZbin that connects on the same level and truly appreciates Harry for Harry and just gets it. I always relate to your reactions. Thank you for what you do! You’re amazing at it, keep the Harry content coming!

Basically here’s what we know about the music video so far. If you look out the window you can see the Eiffel tower so it was filmed in Paris where his ex girlfriend is from. He was also wearing his ex-girlfriend’s ring. And during the music video he was trying to get from underneath the water but in the end he finally gave up and let himself drowned in his sorrows. I wanna hug him so bad. He was in love.

One of my favorite things about this song is that when you're watching others listen to it, you can easily tell whether they have a history that aligns with the lyrics of the song. They break down. It's that emotional. I know **I** have a story that this song is inexorably tied to. I don't even wanna talk about it. And I think it's the same for most people who get struck through the heart by this song. He's singing about a special kind of pain, regret, and despair that is usually too painful to talk about, at least for a long time.
