We love our Frontier, in our 60's now and it is the sort of camping we enjoy. Did 20 weeks and 23k km this year, including Great Central Road, Savannah Way, Cape York and K'gari. The Frontier never missed a beat, except the water pump problem you mentioned (we are now on our 4th since 2020).

Camper Great review. We have a Chinese made camper (like the majority of ones out there) and it’s amazing how much more thought has gone into the Cub. Love the proper plumbed in HWS and the fact that you don’t need to put up internal poles. The only thing the import campers have as standard that the cub doesnt was the tropical cover. Great work as usual. Can’t wait for the next cooking video.

Thx for a decent honest review. Good to see how someone really uses it. PS all those pumps in fine print recommend to put a pre screen type filter before the inlet to the pump to catch gritty things before they destroy the pump. All brands pumps are grit sensitive. Even a cheap screen filter from bunnings will save it. Narva make a $40 dollar 12v car truck fan, decent for the price.

It's fine in rainy and bad weather. Doesn't leak thank to the quality canvas. Takes us about 5 minutes to unwind. Can't beat CUB I reckon.

I’ve just bought a hybrid camper and taken it out for a week for the first time. Absolute game changer with a baby the only down side is they’re just heavy. I got a 15ft with bunks and has an ATM of 3T which even with a stock hilux it makes it work. Concept of indoor outdoor cooking on it and being able to bath the little one in the bottom of the shower was the seller.

What hybrid did you buy? I’m trying to pull the trigger on one now, and thinking hybrid because I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old
@jamieo19938 ай бұрын
@@matthewjames682 we went with the Ezytrail Parkes 15 Quad Mk3. Most of the hybrids are Chinese built and pretty much have the same floor plan and stuff in them but found for $60k you can’t get much more value for it. I’d had an order on a Jayco Swan Outback but they changed the colour so I cancelled. Glad I did because the Ezytrail has everything ready to go.

@mungbean848 ай бұрын
Every camper I've hired in the last 8yrs (since having kid) I always grade them based on the difficulty setting up (number of poles). Some are just ridiculous and yet wildly popular. I guess the price is a bigger factor to some than the continuation of their relationships/stress levels.
@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen8 ай бұрын
When it comes to fans we have always used Caframo Cabin Fans. Same company as Sirocco but about half the price and in our experience (and we have had them for many many years) they are totally reliable and put out a ton of air. They look a bit scary as they are bare blades but the blades are big and soft so putting your hand into one when they are on full power does no damage at all. We have moved them from one rig to another over the years and currently run 4 of them in the Coaster.

"Camper" Great review! We have a Chinese made forward fold which is great but has its annoyances and set up is much more fiddly than your Frontier. Still, having a forward fold means all of the in-camper living space is off the ground and we don't have the nightmare set up issues of the average soft floor. Btw, congrats on being right on the cusp of hitting 100k subscribers 👍

I have one of the other brand "CAMPER" (see what I did there?!) trailers in the UK. And while I do love it, putting up the canvas is a real effort. Mostly because the poles are now about 8 years old and gritty so they don't go up and down easily. And the canvas is HEAVY. I'm in my early 60's and in pretty good shape and setting it up wears me out. Not something I want to do every day, that's for sure. I've been thinking that maybe forward folds are a younger man's game but seeing how easy yours went up changes my mind. My canvas is nearing its sell-by date so I might look at changing it somehow to fold and erect with the main hoop at full height. That would make it so much easier. Great review and thanks for the insights! Ps. My wife and I are planning on using the camper trailer behind our Defender for a year long expedition around southern Africa, hopefully in 2026. (and setting up the awning is a complete nightmare!!)

I want a camper as my current car is bang on gvm when camping (I can't even spare the ball weight of a camper so a new car is needed regardless) but I like having the freedom to go down random tracks and knowing I can turn around easy if I'm not towing. I'm tempted to use my budget and buy a troopy instead. Cons are I'm obviously spending way too much money on a car that's always going to be heavy but I think the pros tip the scales for me. Just waiting to see how the 2.8 70's handle the weight and 33 inch tyres before I commit

first time I went camping and had a hot shower (boiled 8ltrs mixed with cold water), changed everything. Amazing how fresh you feel after a 5-7min shower in 1 degree temp. Yes shower head power was by running car battery and a 10ltr bucket for the water. Still found myself naked standing beside my ute showering with such warmth but was already clean. Just using the remainder of the water. Just loved it but was so surprised. But then again I only have 5 min showers at home, once water temp is right...lmao.

@@matthewjames682 I have towed a 2t hybrid on Fraser Island without any issues. I since upgraded to a 2.6t unit. The Prado still tows it well enough, but I have been hesitant to take it on the beach as I feel it would struggle a bit.
