FYI - Point 1 isn’t about influencers, constructive criticism or having an opinion. It also has nothing to do with the person on the receiving end and what they should do or expect.

I just seen your point about criticising others online and you are absolutely right. I removed 2 comments I left on 2 other videos because I made that mistake myself just now. I guess sitting behind a keyboard it’s easy to let your personal preferences or thoughts in the moment get the best of you and express in a negative way that was not very productive. Something I will definitely be more mindful of in the future

I think its really good to have a balanced wardrobe with a theme along with different proportions. For example, you can do western/americana style with skinny jeans or baggy jeans. Formal can be done with a slim or straight/relaxed silouette as well. I personally own jeans from various cuts from relaxed to flared to skinny. They all fit into my wardrobe in some way and can be worn with multiple different outfits. That is the key.
@CKT11386 ай бұрын
With regard to point 2: My God, I don't understand why some people don't understand that you don't need to spend much at all to get a good fit. If you know how to shop secondhand you can find incredible high quality pieces that sometimes are not even available anymore. Many of them are versatile yet unique, too. Some of my favorite clothes are random thrift finds or eBay victories. And there are brands that make quality cheap clothes too, ones that you'll want to keep wearing and wearing. A lot of that restlessness an fickleness people experience with their clothes comes from not building that bond. So many people buy something they see in a photo for way too much money and they feel some kind of detachment from that garment and I think there may even be a bit of regret mixed in, and a lot of the time, it's something they barely even wear. I'd rather have four great, and deeply personal outfits than a thousand ones I feel nothing about...

About the first point you made: from some psychology articles I've read, many really negative online trolls tend to not be as insecure as you think. They instead often have some psychopathic traits and enjoy putting people down. They aren't necessarily insecure or underconfident, like you might expect; they're just mean people.

0:30 Ah well you know the difference is that people on the street usually do not stand on a podium in the middle of a crowd of thousands of people, giving a speech about their clothing, their make-up, their luxury items etc. So if someone's exposing themselves to the broader public on social media, they need to be prepared to cope with negativity.

Point 1 is good, you dont critisize people for their style, key word THEIR. People wont be open when they follow trends just to make of of them when they hop to the next one and make fun of it later. Ive seen fits i dont like but i see what they are going for, you see what they like in fit, colors, subculture, personality. I doubt ill see you in penny loafers, cowboy boots or a wool greatcoat and thats okay. But some people dress for likes and perpetuate fast fashion consumerism.

“You NEED to get out of your comfort zone” Nah if you already found your formula and you feel like you have arrived at a point of your style that makes you happy, then there really is no urgency to start experimenting in the chase of pleasing other people. Gotta respect that. It’s almost like finishing a any% run in fashion.
@tajcee6 ай бұрын
Totally agree with this. I think I’ve found my secret formula for my own personal style and it works! I don’t think it needs to evolve further past this point. Many people need to just relax and evolve organically, no need to rush the process when it comes to style and being comfortable in your own skin.
@oskar6586 ай бұрын
getting out of your comfort zone doesnt mean you cannot wear what you like and works for you, you could wear all the clothes you like 90% of the time and then the 10% would be new clothes you havent ever worn before to try out different styles, if you dont step out of your comfort zone then you will never know if there's a style you could be really into

As a fashion student, I appreciate this video. Tired of seeing other fashion students trying to be next quirky designer by sticking together the weirdest stuff that even make sense , there’s no intricacy, simplicity or thought behind it, they just want to be seen as “out there” and “avant-garde”, a term which I think too many like to appropriate without understanding what it actually means.

I have always found designer pieces to be cringe or less tasteful than regular clothing. Don't get me wrong, there are some very nice luxury brands out there (for example Naked & Famous, A.P.C., Acne) that are able to not give off this 'loud designer look', but the difference there is usually quality and the product itself rather than the name.

I'm tired of the overconsumption that comes with influencers just getting free stuff from brands. It's not very good for my mental (or more importantly the environment) when I see a youtuber's pick up haul be 10 times more costly than all the clothing I've bought in the last 3 years. It really pisses me off when then the same mfs will preach about making better decisions and making less mistakes when they're literally the problem.
