nes suno I would say all new cars fail at weight. Maybe Mazda mx5 passes the weight test. 1400 kg+ with plenty of expensive carbon parts seems ridiculous to me. Only way to light drivers car is to go back in time. E30 can be modified fairly easily to under 1000kg. E30 don’t have all the bells and whistles of a modern car, but technology weigh a lot. Then again, 60s sports cars, like lotus Elan, make E30 look like an elephant.
@nessuno54033 жыл бұрын
@@tiitsaul9036 I agree, but with more regulatory requirements and people wanting more features... fat chance! Incidentally, the carbon here is all cosmetic except for the roof and very expensive carbon brakes option! The M2 CS Racing for track, does without the heavy dampers or carbon bonnet or carbon brakes. On the M2 Competition, you can spec both a carbon roof and bonnet so it's lighter if you give up on the CS option of carbon brakes (standard are steel).

The regulations for the official car weight changed recently. The M2C was probably still under the old regulations. For example it's no longer allowed to state the weight of the lightest possible version of a car. That might explain why the number for the CS with all the lighter components is around the same as the M2C in it's very lightest version back in the day.

Excellent review Harry, nice to watch a video from a reviewer who doesn't have an opinion that's influenced by a close relationship with a manufacturer or dealership. BMW priced this car extremely high, it is in many ways a manual F80 M3/F82 M4. Carbon roof, adaptive suspension, same engine, seats, gearbox and a suspension set up that's similar to the competition models. You also get a carbon fibre propshaft and no GPF filter. Find a manual M3/M4 Competition and they are far fewer in numbers than the M2CS, you'll also have £40K left overt o spend on a Porsche!

Sorry Harry, *10 HARD FACTS AND CORRECTIONS* on this M2 Competition ("M2C") parts-bin special: 1) Same S55 engine hardware and torque as the M2C; it's just a power reflash to M4 Competition ("M4C") spec 2) Same weight as M2C unless carbon ceramic brakes are optioned, and heavy due to M4C dampers (good luck with future spares and repairs) 3) In-cabin sound is digitized; outside it's muted compared to non-EU exports where no particulate filters (OPF) are mandatory 4) Instruments are analogue - only the lower right corner is digital 5) Wheels are a recycled BMW design (with WRX STi gold...) and seats are also recycled from M4 CS 6) Bonnet vent is for show only; the M2 CS Racing is actually more M2C because it doesn't have this carbon bonnet (you can option one on M2C) or carbon brakes! 7) The only difference is the integrated carbon roof then, with known poorly layed weave (you can option a carbon roof layer on M2C also as noted in the video) 8) As standard, this has Brembo steel 6 caliper front, 4 caliper rear brakes (you guessed it, you can option these on M2C also) that also catch stones 9) Equally overpriced F80 M3/M4 CS flopped because these new CS are not bespoke and they are pre-planned; just not special one-offs like M3 CSL 10) At the price, go Cayman... and the "all sold out" is make believe in some markets; dealers buy and retain them until the fools come and pay the premium. Just get an M2C and enjoy.

For £23k you can get a very nice spec 987.2 Cayman S or Boxster S with 3.4L proper flat six howl and razor shard steering with tons of feedback.

I had to use a lumbar pillow on my E92 335i coupe. Not sure if it's seat design or just strengthening my lower back a lot, but I had no problems with my 17 SS 1LE and now 21 GT4 bucket seats after

I bought the M2 Comp and it’s perfect for me . If I could afford the CS I just don’t see the point unless it’s bought for a future classic . I’m sure the CS will be a collectors car but as a daily then it’s the M2 Comp .

Great car and review 👌 Making it 24k more expensive also makes it a bit of a collectors car over the years and will hold its value better.

Any factory M special always holds its value. This CS will always be an expensive car and only get more so when the final production numbers are well known and circulated. BMW M has a huge fan base and cars like this are special s for their biggest fans. E92 M3 GTS was 150 unit model and cost GT3 money when new. Currently it’s regarded as one of the best cars ever and will run a buyer just under 300k used which is double the MSRP. These CS cars are as close to factory CSL models and really are the best to show what a real M car is. As pair of light weight buckets to replace the heavy electric seats and this CS is a nobodies CSL car (100-180k lbs lighter than standard)

The M2 is the best modern drivers- car- BMW out there. These will hold their value well and are fun machines while doing so.

Corvette, same format front engine rear wheel drive. But, it's lighter e.g. the c6 z06, 1395kg with a manual and NA 7.0 v8 revving to 7000rpm. Costs the same. Sounds a lot lot better. Much higher cornering g forces. I used to think they were terrible, then I did some research. Also one of the fastest manual NA nurburgring cars ever and won it's class in le mans. Also the third fastest manual NA car from 0 to 60 ever made (production) pick it up if u can afford it

@@AMCL5 I hear u on that, hence why I'll stick to sportbikes for now, pick up a 2005 5vy yamaha r1 for 3 grand 175hp and 175kg absolute weapon, 5 valve engine too so an absolute screamer.
