I missed this first time around - but what a treat. I concur fully with the travesty that has befallen Park Lane. I drove up there a couple of weeks ago and cars are now relegated to just one lane of the original four lane 'drag-strip' as I also remember it - dodging in and out between buses and coaches and then a last minute lane correction to get the right entry point for the Edgware Road exit off Marble Arch. Now car drivers must take their place amongst buses (1 lane) coach parking (1 lane) and cycles (1 lane). The 20mph speed limit is just the raspberry on an already very soggy, damp sponge. Hey ho. A beautiful restoration and some great descriptions of the car's sheer 'waftability'. Thank you.

Yes, but the RR Shadow will always be remembered for its stunning good looks, far better-looking than anything produced under the new management! Harry has turned the Shadow's weaknesses into its' strength, without Harry, we all know the unfortunate ending..................And why the BBC do not offer to buy the rights to the great Arctic Trip, I will never understand!! That model has always been my 'dream' car. In reality, at almost 75, I drive a '71 Electric Super Beetle. I do not miss all of the maintenance, such as oil changes, tappets and breaker points to think about........... It would be nice to buy a really cheap Shadow, knackered engine and transmission..................... and then convert to EV and see that everyone would want one!

The Artic Rolls clearly brings so much enjoyment for the family as an “occasional” so it’s great to see you’re putting something back into it. I bought an immaculate last of the steel bodied XJ8’s a few years as a daily for my wife to waft from Oxton to West Kirby and back for work in a bit of luxury and style, it serves as our occasion car too, so no expense spared with meticulous maintenance at Bob Bate in Birkenhead.

I got into it for almost the same price, and it needs about the same amount of work as yours. What you said about these cars not having much value is true, as is what you said about them being about the memories. My car belonged to my, now deceased, Uncle for the last 20 years, and it is a rolling monument to him. We're looking very much forward to getting it roadworthy again and making another generation's worth of memories in it! Thanks for the videos of the Rolls and please do keep them coming!

Obviously our Harry has a bit of spare cash available so the other restorations we've seen on this channel seem to be almost no holds barred 'money no object' efforts. The Rolls Royce on the other hand is being done on the kind of budget many of us lesser mortals have to work with on our own humble classics. To my way of thinking that 'real world' element potentially makes this job the most interesting of all the restorations and I for one can't wait to see what can be achieved on not very much money.
