Lovely old beauty. When I was a child I went with my dad, who was a police road accident investigator, to see one of these that had been involved in an RTA with a parked Escort. Needless to say, the damage to the Roller was minimal. I've loved them ever since.

I was never a big fan of this generation of RRs but your videos series have given me a much more positive impression of them. I think it was crazy cool that you took this up to the arctic circle! Rear-wheel drive to there? Unbelievable. It's hard for me not to wish that you would have done a full-restore since it would be great to see it returned to its original glory. I guess the Jag V-12 will have to do that. I said it then, I love the color you picked out for it. That's another feature I wouldn't have chosen but it really looks great! Smart choice.

Hey Harry. Your Rolls Royce to the Arctic videos inspired my wife and I to hop on a plane in late 2019 and fly from Australia to Oslo via China and we recreated your trip. Albeit in an AWD Skoda Octavia Wagon. We went further north, in winter to Tromso, via Bergen, Lillehamer, Narvick etc. What a wonderful experience. @ILCapo-mo5jj3 жыл бұрын
@@taylorsimonr oooo!! Lovely!! I used to own a 1982 Silver Spirit which was my first nice car to be sent north. Once I hunted two roe bucks that I carried south with space to spare in the trunk. They were just perfectly macerated as I arrived and were immediately turned into cookable chunks for friends and freezers. Last year I took the testarossa above the arctic circle, inspired by Harry, taking his testarossa to the Gateway of the Sahara. The testarossa really impressed me as well up on arctic latitudes. It always started and was defrosted in three minutes. Even the rear window in the testarossa has defrost. A Roller is the perfect weapon for any climate. The high ride height, independent suspension, great heating and AC and the possibility to fit modern compound SUV tyres, make it plow through the arctic like a steam locomotive
@ILCapo-mo5jj3 жыл бұрын
If your Silver Spirit has a catalyzer, make sure to protect it with vented bash plates. RR just smacked the cat on underneath, not worrying about the exposed low position. My Series III Corniche DHC suffers from the same problem and I've ruined it once from ground impact. Cats for RR are quite expensive. I believe Cadillac coincide with some RR cats. Please do check, it can save you loads of money. SUV tyres are slightly larger in diameter but still fit in the spare wheel carrier. These tyres are a lot better than the Continental and Avon and they lift the car slightly for more clearance. Also, I've fitted Öhlins bespoke shocks and slightly firmer springs. These are highly recommendable mods

Really nice to see the old Silver Shadow getting some well deserved tlc Harry, but without going over the top, sometimes it's hard to know how far to go and when to stop! 'Wedding car white' on a RR is often looked down upon but it really suits the simple elegant lines of the car and lets the brightwork do its job of being complimentary. I've just recently bought a white Maserati Biturbo 430 which has hardly any excess decoration and it just 'works', especially so with the contrasting blue interior. Looking forward to seeing the next video ;-).

One of my uncles in the UK used to go shooting in his two-door Silver Shadow, Mulliner Park Ward, I think. 1960s. He shed a couple of hub caps driving along farm tracks. My teenage cousin and I thought that it looked very cool and boy racer without the hub caps. My uncle was more like Harry and had them put back on.
