The genius of this script for me is how moffat made this *new* doctor somebody's doctor. The fact Amy grew up with this Doctor and made stories about him that seemingly most people in Ledworth knew about further cements the fact to us, the viewer, that this is indeed *the* Doctor. It was meta but didn't subtract from the story at all, only adding to it. If you take your mind back to the announcement of Matt Smith, people were not on board at all. Having this brand new actor be someone's childhood Doctor is brilliant. Moffat did this sort of meta bedding in period in capaldis first episode too and it works wonderfully there also
@kennethnystrom5934 жыл бұрын
its infact even more clever. There is 2 diffrent Amy/Amelias´s in this episode. AND!! The answer to the biggest question of them all is hiding in plain sight; When is a duck pond with no ducks a duck pond? (Answer; when you remember the ducks from a diffrent life/Whoniverse) AND it is even more clever then that. Cause; the Wedding dress is for a wedding with a man that have never existed and that Amelia only remember from her other life in the other Whoniverse (due to exposure to the timevortex behind her wall) (Just as Clara, Madame Pompadore/Lady Penforte to name a few also remembered lives (days) they had never had...) AND its even more clever then that. Cause the Wedding dress is a signs that the TARDIS is jumping between Whoniversis (in that episode) (just as it "jumped" when Donna twice was a bride) just as it engagement ring signal jumps between whoniversis and lastly the Williams wedding..(every single time the TARDIS jumps between Whoniversis in that episodes...Just as the INTRO shows us...Hidden in plain sight.

5:55 we can see when 11 is sitting at the end of the corridor by the radiator that there's one to the right and one to the left of him. 2 doors so far. we know there are two doors (one of which has the perception filter) in the wall opposite the stairs coming up from the ground floor, and one door in the right wall. an extra three, total of 5. in the scene with 11 running up the stairs there is possibly a sixth door to the right of the camera, but we never see this section of wall. I think there is likely one here as there is also one in that wall on the other side of the stairs in the aforementioned scene when 11 is sitting by the radiator, and also because this would be a logical explanation for the writers saying there are six - there *are* six.

S5 was great. S6 and S7 both started out with a lot of promise but went downhill in their second halves, more so with S7 which got SO boring.

This is probably the greatest Doctor debut episode ever. It just gets everything right.

The Eleventh Hour is one of my favourite episodes from the revived series because it was Karen Gillan's debut as Amy Pond and it reminded me so much of The Girl in the Fireplace from Series 2.

There is a 6th door to the left of the stairs, it just cant be seen in a lot of the shots from the angles and because it is indented a little. You can see it when prisoner zero comes out of the room as the man and dog.
@FandomGirl424 жыл бұрын
But there are six doors... One to Amy's left (the Doctor's right), one to her right and his left. One on her left on the same wall as the first door mentioned, just a little further back. The perception filter door jammed between that one and on the same wall as another door. That last door I mentioned is opposite the staircase, and to the side of that, nearly opposite the third door I mentioned, is door number six. You can see the sixth door at 6:32

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY. I adore your reviews but god dammit as a stereotypical younger American Matt Smith was my first doctor as I found rhe show on Netflix but skipped over most or 9 and all of 10 since 11 was the currently airing doctor. Ive wanted him for SO long even if i was scared. Cause you have made me realize things I never would have about the show and made me appreciate it alot more by bringing the fangirlness down to realistic view of the show and its budget.

An idea: What if the next incarnation of the Doctor was socially shy and completely nervous and a complete introvert like a lot of the people who exist are. The companion they chose has to encourage the Doctor to do things and has to like essentially save the day for the Doctor.

I love that Amy Pond does more police work in one episode as a kissogram than Yaz does in two seasons as an actual police officer

Throwing away the food could’ve been done a lot faster and I thought there was a little too much filler in this episode, but this episode is pretty decent for Moffat.

How many here realised there was 2 diffrent Amelia Pond´s in this episode? 1 Amelia Pond (Classic Whoniverse; where Gallifrey came from and Amelia never had any periods) 1 Amy Pond/Williams (New Whoniverse; where Gallifrey went; and Amy had periods (Melody)).

There is everything you said in your video and there is the one line that always sends shivers down my spine. "Hello, I'm the Doctor.......basically....Run" these words sent an alien invasionfleet for whom it'd have been a walk in the park to incinerate the whole planet running away in fear. It again just shows the Power that even just his name has.(ofc not the acutal one)

11 isn't my favourite doctor, but this has to be the best first episode of a doctor. There are many great details and some callbacks, like him stealing his clothes from a hospital, like 3 did in his first episode.

there are actually 6 doors on the floor. in most of the shots the door on our left (seen when facing Amy) gets cut off but there are 4 doors on that side and 2 on The Doctor's.

I find series 5 very rewatch able. Series 6 had ups and downs, but series 7 was when I felt Moffat lost the threads. As much as I liked Capaldi as the Doctor, his run was marred by uneven storytelling. Made me hopeful that a new show runner would help, but then Chibnall basically shat upon my hopes

fun fact the child actor of Amelia is actually Karen Gillan's (Amy in the show) real-life cousin. She pushed to have her cousin to be in the show.
