Honestly i often feel that even pros goes to hvy on stalkers. I have watched yesterday pvp between sOS and creator, and inho sOs won in big part because he had only part of his armny in stalkers, and big part of it was zealots and 2 archons, while Creator was nearly pure stalkers.

As Terran I lose to stalker pushes all the time in ~Diamond 2* I got to Diamond 1 earlier this season but stalker pushes put my current MMR into Diamond 3 territory lmao.

it proves that it is imba because of the nonclarity of the battery overcharge range, combined with the nonclarity of blink range. It takes skill to know both and judge the distances relative to each other. And judging distance on the screen is punishing without being fun

@@MKu64 So just git gud? Suppose that before every game, players solve a matrix multiplication, and the winner gets a 10 drone advantage. Do you just tell them to git gud? It is testing a skill, even a good useful skill that would help you make money. And yet it is bad design because it's not fun. It does not fit into the premise of the game. If, for instance, this was a platformer, then maybe judging jump distances would be a core skill to test. Ars Technica had a great little video from the Dead Cells designer going into much more detail, with them showing the game without these many assists, but they took it down. But this one still talks about it a bit kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6eYf6qYpKl3ns0 In that previous video, they were saying something about intent rather than strict input reasoning. So if you had an enemy behind you, the correct input was face them then attack. But in a strict sense, if you pressed attack then face them, you would be stuck in an attack animation. When people talk about StarCraft being unintuitive and clunky, this QoL stuff is what they mean

I'm pretty sure the protoss intended to blink towards his battery, misjudging the distance or not considering the buildings would prevent him from getting as close as he thought he would. I have definitely done the panik blink click towards a battery like that. Through your ranting I am slowly but surely starting to use blink properly lol. Really cool game theory tidbit, I love how I can watch and play this game for so long and still learn new things all the time.

I find it amazing how many Protoss IODIS are on the side of "I don't understand why I lose to a mass of units vs my mass of StAlKeRs which didn't harass said mass of enemy units on their way to my undefended base". I NEVER played an SC 2 game of my life, but even I know stalker aren't frontline units if you are not called Lilbow.

@@egida6486 SC2 is a game I follow on and off over the last 10 years, it was a game casted by the same streamers I watched for League content, and while I like RTS as a genre, I don't want the click fest offered by blizzard with unit having up to 3 abilities you need pin point accuracy to use. And harstem is just so much fun :D

i love the copium in this. barcodes description of the opening: i did so much damage with early harass and even kept my harassing units alive, after totally shutting down the proxy hatch. what actually happned: zerg dropped a proxy hatch, then refunded it and saved the drone. meanwhile back at home they the scouting probe and double expanded, leading to them having 3 hatcheries before the protoss was able to get their second. zerg literally spent 75 minerals getting 2 bases up on protoss (which was further compounded by the 'toss not immediately building the second base. essentially all the "damage" that the pross did was just catching up to the zergs current economy....but since it took them so long to get their 3rd nexus up, zerg was still able to pull ahead becase...well, they have more bases.. and then on top of that the guy told on himself. "zerg just sat back and built hydra"...yeah...thats what happens when you leave the other player along and they have an economy lead....they're gonna spend their money building units...how many times bewtweed IODIS and pigs salt mines do we see players get a lead...and then just throw it away by sitting back and letting their opponent rebuild?

Holy shit lmfao that might be the worst blink I've ever seen in this series. Not only did he go into melee range of the lings, he gave up his concave on the hydra's flank and opened his stalkers up to the firing squad while deleting his retreat path into the 3rd.

A minute in (loading screen) and I already have to ask how a Masters player thinks a 600 resources advantage should translate into a win? I'm not even close to that level but at least I know you can lose even if you're thousands of resources ahead in resources lost. Heck, Zerg kind of has to spend more resources in order to win (given the opponent doesn't just throw the game).

i think the "my opponent lost 600 more resources than me" line also didnt get enough credit on that form like... the guy is playing against ZERG... if zerg is even on resources lost, then zerg is probably winning pretty hard, because they are designed to trade inefficiently and just throw wave after wave of monsters at you

Before I say anything, I love your videos and think your and your editor's commentary is hilarious, but you often say something that confuses me and I'd love to stop wondering why and just hear/read why you say it, xD. If you see and answer this, thank you so much for your guys's videos and thank you for your time! Question: You often criticize players for neglecting to say gg at the end of a match in your IMBA series. But, if they truly believe that they lost unfairly due to inherent imbalance within the game and not due to their own play, why would or should they say gg?

stalkers aren't melee units, they aren't even fighting units. They are harass units / ok anti-air, and are typically way over built, even by pros. If you are a lesser player your will do even worse with them. The bonus to armor isn't so they are good against armored, but more like so they are less bad.

Theyre like dragoons but worse in straight up fights but more mobile. Their speed and blink allow them to be excellent skirmisher units, but not a "sit here and A-move" unit. If only Protoss had another stronger ground strider or something. 🤔

Harstem misread this game imo. The actual issue wasn’t that, it was that he didn’t have enough gas. He was on 3gas going oracle stalker, and when he realized he dropped a fourth gas. He basically started a colossus as soon as he could afford it. Also that blink is to get into super battery range.

I think this perfectly illustrates the difficulty of Protoss in higher leagues, and the difficulty of balance. This was a very close and competitive game, and it ended in an instant because of a small micro mistake judging distances with unclear range indicators. This perfectly illustrates the state of ZvP in a nutshell

Playing vs Zerg as a Protoss is very unforgiving. The Zerg has free scouting and map control, forcing you to turtle. If you want to get active on the map at all, it better be an all in, or you're losing your entire army.

immortal colossus crushes zerg ground beyond belief. archons can help but gas can become an issue. static d is necessary when you get to a high base count. zealots are also massively good if there are not banelings like in this game.

Try building a 3rd behind some sort of pressure, like adepts or DTs into archons. I play Zerg and get whooped by these builds all the time. As Zerg you need to scout it before the warp prism comes across the map and warps in units, otherwise zerg just doesn't have the larvae to defend in time.

I used to feel the same way (Diamond Protoss) but lately I've been opening Stargate for an oracle and void ray, then getting Colossi as soon as possible. Stargate lets you be active on the map, a couple Colossi and Immortals shut down everything Zerg has until they get a critical mass of Lurkers.

"Free scouting" is total BS & something a biased player would say. Map control doesn't mean they can kill you when you move out to harass or do a timing timing attack. You can still do both of those things so by definition Protoss is not forced into turtling... I don't know what you're talking about. What's your MMR?

The top 10 is only where Zerg is super strong. Balance can't be calculated from just a few players in the Premieres ROFL... it never has been. Weird thing to say... complain about Zerg being IMBA then say it isn't fun... you know nothing about Zerg so you're not qualified to comment.
