Happiness comes and goes just like other feelings and emotions. I feel like it shouldn’t be the goal but a byproduct of how you live. Seeking self improvement and responsibility in your life seems like the move to me.

There’s nothing more self centered, self-indulgent, and ultimately meaningless pursuit than happiness. You should have values and life those values and that’ll bring you closer having meaning, purpose, and usefulness. Meaningless existence is what leads to most people’s unhappiness, so it might actually make you happy, but that’s not even the point.
