I was just like DR K until I forced myself to get good at studying during college. I realized that if I focused less on passing my exams and more on just learning I was blown away with how cathartic it was. I realized that my anxiety for test taking and my comparison to my classmates and my pressure from my parents to do good made me forget how much I genuinely enjoyed learning chemistry.

Dr. K really hit the nail on the head when it comes to creating meaningful and impactful relationships. It's amazing to see the number of people my age (28) that are not willing, or ready, to put in the work to outlast the honeymoon phase. It's like the moment conflict crops up people run for the hills. In reality, it's through conflict that we learn the most about others and ourselves. I don't want a partner that agrees with everything I say, I want a partner that challenges me while wanting the best for both of us. There are uncomfortable moments that come with that, and they are worth it It's also really nice to see Jack and Graham openly talk about their platonic love for one another, it was moving to see two male figures not shy away from such a healthy display of comradery. Much respect 💯 Part 2 for sure

Amazing talk. I thought I knew a lot about life and wisdom but Dr. K taught me a few things I didn't realize. Like meditation is essentially when the mind stops while retaining awareness. That's honestly the best description for meditation I've ever heard.
@Wellspicedchaffinch
@Wellspicedchaffinch 4 ай бұрын
Have you read 'Search Inside Yourself' ("search" because it's by an ex-Googler) - it talks of the mind as a vase/urn filled with muddy water. Meditation helps calm the water and the mud settles on the bottom of the vase/urn; leaving stillness (of mind). It's a helpful concept when meditating to help still your body and mind - seeking that stillness and clarity.

I will add that your reference to gifted kids as special needs is spot on. I have actually used that terminology in various settings. And yes, my kids also lack study habits for the reasons mentioned. My son would report that he would ace the math pretests without previous exposure to the concepts, which puts him in a position of boredom while the concept is taught. He had a very hard time making friends for years because he thought on a totally different level than kids his age. A lot of these children turn to drugs like marijuana just to numb their brains so they can fit in better.

Great conversation! Rarely do I find a podcast/conversation so captivating I don't want to multi-task while listening. I really appreciated how Dr. K helped bring certain points home by asking questions and allowing the hosts find their own answers for some topics.

This was fantastic! I watched from start to finish without stopping - and I usually don't watch three hours of content. The most significant insight was about awareness and how it is at the root of everything. If we learn to master it, we can change anything about ourselves. Also, I loved how the amount of focus is correlated with happiness. Thank you for this podcast - I would love to see part 2.

what i love about this interview is that the audience and even when you look throughout this video on the hosts faces is that nobody knows what to say. nobody can say anything without sounding arrogant or not intellectually aware enough to combat what he says. he didn’t dominate the conversation they just listened. they were stuck in their thoughts, in their head while simultaneously trying to understand his words and also perhaps rejecting his words. yet we all stayed and were mentally capable enough to just hear him out for 2 hours straight. and he came from such a neutral standpoint that it is hard to disprove what he’s saying and it made sense. unless the audience had questions of their own or disagreed what have you, his point still stood and he still came out on top. he was the only person where i was able to put my opinions to the side and learn. and i think we all have the privilege to understand him, let alone hear him speak.

Yes, absolutely and positively yes! Bring Dr.K back for more questions. Would be great to learn more about autism, causes, how to improve the symptoms and social aspect. Would be great to learn more about improving relationships, how to deal with feelings of guilt, depression. What does make people happier? How to improve discipline (Yes, I will try and do my best meditating from now on. Tried before “watching my breathing”, fell off the wagon). Dr. K has amazing ability to communicate ideas and thoughts!!! Loved the podcast!

This was incredible from start to finish. Honestly, I'm currently in a strange mental state where I feel as though I have learned so much about how to explore myself and my mind. Please invite him back, I'd love to hear more about awareness - exploring self. As well as the path to be taken when you get distracted by those desires. The process surrounding realising the desire is there, the awareness of it - and then following that train of thought to deciding on the next action to take. Thank you so much

I dropped out of school, never enjoyed school, thought it was pointless and boring. Taught myself most of everything I know on my own. Never could study until I learned how to study. I also never felt I could fit into society and the typical 9-5 life. I just stay in my own lane as an entrepreneur. Things like this 100% resonate.

I started to cry listening to it.. It was very obvious to me and everyone around me something was different, and every adult thought I would change the world or smt, and once I didn’t (because I couldn’t even finish school), it was hell on earth for too long to not leave scars.. Suddenly I had no discipline and no will, and this kept on going until I was somehow more tired of being broke than living, and I had to come up with a solution asap. I now have my own company that brings me more money than I need but _only_ because I wouldn’t be accepted in any so I literally had no other choice but to make one myself, which is hilarious but I can’t help but only feel heartbroken about what I went through and what so many people are going through right now because they don’t have the right guidance.. I hope the way we teach kids now will absolutely shock society in the future the same way it shocks us to see how mental hospitals were before.

I could have listened to 3 more hours of this...The conversations were so genuine, so authentic, and i absolutely love how vulnerable and opened both of you Jack and Graham were during the episode. It was beautiful and very commendable. this is what healthy masculinity is all about. I hope more men follow in your footsteps to show more vulnerability, which in fact is powerful. Personally when a man has the courage to show his vulnerability that shows true courage, which i find very attractive in others, and especially in men. Great job w the podcast! Bravo! 😊

Incredible episode. Glad he came on the show. I discovered him by way of his “former gifted kid” video. I cried pretty hard. It’s been a hard life, and harder 5 years. Woof. I was not ready for THAT enlightenment. I have embraced it and laughed at the memes now. I’m back in school. Like so many, around the 30’s you reconsider. I’m happily on that journey into IT. I’m learning how to learn, post-concussions, now with crazy ADHD, lots of sickness that’s only just now under control as of November. 5 years of pain, sickness, left my career as a band director. It’s been hard. A life not worth living. But I’m starting to see the light again. And people like Dr. K are helping me get through! Thank you, Dr. K for your work online. ( in case you read any comments) You give us so much time, content, wisdom and knowledge!!

I liked answering Dr K’s questions myself as he asked Graham and Jack because it enabled me to practice awareness in the moment. Calling it meditation seems more unattainable to me than calling it awareness even though I know both words can have the same definition. Graham and Jack: I acknowledge that this interview required vulnerability and I appreciate your participation and willingness to reveal glimpses of your true thoughts and desires. I do not think any of your responses were dishonest. Do I want another episode: Absolutely. I would like Dr K to talk to both of you together again in person then individually afterwards maybe on different days afterwards in person. I like in person interactions better than virtual even though I’ve observed Dr K guide folks to increase their awareness virtually. Ideally I would like these part 2 interviews to occur within the next 4 weeks so I can get more strategies to guide me. Hearing Dr K talk about “Vata” again was informative. In a nutshell, awareness and curiosity are essential to live a fulfilling life.
