Why is it so important to define a culture in the early stages of company formation? Because cultures aren't something you can easily back into over time; they're the fertile compounds that foster growth and inspire employees' actions and behaviors. This session with Michael Skok, a serial entrepreneur turned venture capitalist, will help you tackle the hard issue of how to define a culture that can help you encode the values that support standards of excellence and empower and drive teams to collaborate around shared goals. In that vein we will also discuss the importance of having a compelling vision and mission.
The team from Salsify is our featured case study and they will share how culture has been established at their company.

I love the content of the lectures, and I believe Michael is extremely knowledgeable, intelligent and articulate. I can see that the thought processes are different than most, and in a good way. It seems like most content is directed at creating the next Facebook, Twitter, etc., and doesn't always apply to the majority of startups or where they'll ultimately fall in relation to these famous guerilla companies that are household names. I believe it would be nice to have some of the parts which may differ between a "Change the World" company and the normal, middle-class (if you will) 95% of the companies that are heeding this advise. Not to be critical, just constructive. Thank you for publishing these lectures and making them available to the public!

Interesting discussion on efforts and results ! In my mind efforts are the cause and the results are the effects. If I don't like the effect, I change the cause. Where should we focus then ? Cause or Effect? As a first step , determine what results I want to see and as a second step determine what causes it and do it !!! If the results don't show up, rework on the causes - meaning the efforts. What should be celebrated and rewarded ? Both !!!! We all love instant gratification. So, one way out is to convert every important cause / effort completion into a milestone and celebrate it ! And of course results MUST BE CELEBRATED!

Results at what cost ? Interesting question again.... Results are paramount . YES. They are. At all cost ? Yes ! Why not :). But it should fulfil just one condition in my mind.... Short Term Results SHOULD NOT compromise the Long Term Results of the Organization. Sounds very simple :)................... But the BIGGG challenge with Long Term results is that it takes everything best out of you to create and sustain it !!!!! Toooo bad :)
