I was picking up my children from school when I first heard this song on Christian radio. I sat and wept. I have never been as emotionally affected by any song in my life. HE IS the RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE!!! Hallelujah!

Folks, one of the greatest, little known, most powerful christian(or any) singers ever. This man's vocals were no joke. I saw him on the Mighty River tour in Lafeyette, la. That was towards the end of his long career and I believe he had had fought some vocal cord issues in the previous years, but he could still hit and sustain notes that would blow many other singers out of the water. Truly amazing. Thanks for sharing.

My first introduction to Harvest was in 1985, when I bought the album 'Send us to the world' and I was blown away. I then went on to buy 'Voices'. I still have the 'Voices' album in the original cover. I was also blown away by 'Mighty River', in particular 'Lingering here with You'. I bought the cassette in 1994. Such incredible artists who ministered to me through so many years. Powerful!

This is one of my favorited songs by Harvest since the first time I heard it back in the late 80's. And like now I played it back to back, never seeming to get enuff of it. It has a satisfying hauntingness to it & depicts what the True Spiritual Walk is like. Some of us go thru greater tribulations & the burdens of battle fatigue can be so much more overwhelming weighty on us. This song is that pick me back up again, Oh Lord & I will continue on again. There are very few songs that touch me as much as Because I Am does. I AM THAT I AM... these words, first declared to be the name of God to Abraham in Genesis, knocked over the Roman soldiers that came to arrest Jesus. This was a warning that He couldn't be taken against His will. I believe that these will be the words spoken by Christ when He comes with His saints to confront the armies at Armaggedon. He's not going to explain Himself to these people... He is going to speak His name: I AM THAT I AM.... and that will end their lives instantly and forever. His name alone is a double edged sword. To those of us who love and serve Him this sword is the truth that will usher us into eternal life in the presence of God. To those of us who reject Him, this sword is the truth that will cast them into eternal damnation and separation from God. It's just that simple... believe and live.

You're absolutely right about it having a 'hauntingness' to it....another one that stands out with that characteristic is "On the Water". These guys had SO many POWERFUL and deep songs...and I always bought their albums when they came out. They were also very good in concert. Jerry always got me when he would be talking about something that was wrong..and he would say "..and that just burns my cookies!" :)
