I have an oilless pump and when they sent me a smaller hose to insert into the original my pump began to fail. They did acknowledge that that didn't work too well but not word about fixing the pump. So I am using the oiled pump that came with it and other than making a mess when changing the oil it i working well. My freeze dryer is older than yours but it works fine!.

Will a fat separator work instead of freezing? *...the kind used in cooking*

Give it a try. That might work. I like that any sediment drops to the bottom and freezes inside the water.

Once you purchase a gallon of oil, does the new unused oil go bad? Does it have a shelf life?

I just keep on using it and haven’t had any problems yet. Obviously some must burn off because you usually need to top off with fresh. I’m sure there is a recommendation for a time period, but if it is clear I reuse it.
