Duong, you have the best fed fish, chickens, and pigs. The lumpy dough is due to the starch. When a powdered starch hits hot water the molecules react like a glue and stick together, which makes lumps, by covering the vegetables the starch is spread through the water and lumps can't form as quickly. In the late 1800s and early 1900s starch glue was used to stick wallpapers up in house's in the UK, the downside was insects would feed on the starch and infestations were common. My grandfather said when he was young as soon as the lights were extinguished in certain rooms the walls would come alive and if you'd touch the wall it would be like the walls were alive.

Duong,, the reason the cornstarch goes lumpy is because when heat hits it right away. If you mix it with a cold liquid then pour it into the cooked vegetables, it will thicken evenly. When you mix it with the greens on entry, it gives the cornstarch the chance to get used to its environment before swelling to thicken the sauce. Hope this helps.

That was cornmeal....not cornstartch!
@foretb1162 Жыл бұрын
@@ppiechnik correct! But they both work the same. When you let the cornmeal soak for a few minutes in cold water, it mixes better and swells without lumps when added to boiling water.

You should try soap making (saponification) - you could make suitable lye from wood ash and you have wild boar lard as well. It’ll take a few months to cure but you would have soap to clean pots and disinfect tools etc 😊❤
